Beauty and the Beast Theatrical Release

I'm soo excited for all of the classic movies that Disney is releasing back into theatres over the next couple of years! I think the success of The Lion King this fall proves that the market is definitely there for these.

I can't remember if anyone posted the schedule as we know it right here, but Melinda wrote an article with the dates, so here it is. Also, I was thinking earlier about how much I can't WAIT to see Tangled Ever After, and I couldn't remember if y'all knew that they're actually releasing with BatB ahead of the Disney Channel release that had been previously mentioned. Jess originally posted about the short, but I don't think at that time, we knew it would be released in front of BatB. So cool!

Which classics will you see? Will you see 3D? Will the Tangled short draw you in? We'll probably just see regular format - it's awesome enough!

I will be going to see the little mermaid. My daughter and I both have red hair, and I have loved that movie since I was a little girl myself. My kids have seen it yet. Now my son loves Monsters INC and Finding Nemo. They have those two and Beauty and the Beast on DVD so I don't know if we will go to the movies for those. But it is Disney so we might. I have been working on their Disney movie collection since they were newborns.

I would go if they werent in 3D. I just cant get into the 3D at all...... wish they would release them as imax or something... or non-3d versions. They would still make money... and maybe even more?

I'm not a 3D fan in general, I don't care for live action 3D, I'm not evn a huge fan of the Pixar style animation. However, I loved the way that the did the 3D with Lion King. It was classy, not kitchy. I really though it added a little magic with the depth that was created.

If you think about it, even Walt was looking for ways to give that depth to his animated films right from Snow White. He used the layering of glass plates and cells to create depth and movement that a simple 2D drawing wouldn't have. In addition the CAP animators really tried hard to create more depth with the original Beauty and the Beast, think about how it seems like you fly through that ballroom scene. They were stretching the limits of technology for their time, now the have the opportunity now only to take it one step further, but to reintroduce Disney Classics to a whole new generation.

I think that if they keep the classy not kitchy feel that they achieved with the Lion King in 3D, it's going to be spectacular.

I will be going to B&TB and TLM for sure.

Alone. With Kleenex. & the other people best watch out when "part of your world" starts because I am liable to start singing. Loudly.

The 3D Blu-ray has already been released, back in October, here in the UK.

We got LK in both 3D and regular format, Mase. We saw the regular. Do y'all not get both?

I agree Kristen. That first ballroom scene - as well as the scene where Belle runs from the cottage and is singing "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere" (I think those are the lyrics) were just breathtaking in the theatre back then. I can't wait to repeat the experience with my daughter!

We don't have a 3D TV... what I do is we don't play the actual Blurays. I store them onto my PC, and we watch everything from my PC that is connected to our TV. No hassle of having to load the BR up or anything. Just navigate to my HD Movies folder... select Beauty and the Beast and it plays on our TV in surround sound biggrin
