Best activity at a Disney resort hotel

Lots of Disney's hotels have activities for guests -- you can get a big list of 'em when you check in. Has anyone done any of the guest activities at the resorts? Things like tours, movies on the beach, animal stuff at the AKL, yoga, etc.? Would love to hear pros/cons.

Wife and I did the AKL nighttime Savanna viewing with the night vision goggles and that was tremendous. You could look through the glasses and see the animals walking around and then take away the glasses and see nothing but dark. Then a few moments later they would amble into view through the darkness.

We always stay at AKL and have always wanted to do some of them. Like the nighttime trek with the nightvision goggles. But we are either tired by that time from the day, or are at the park.

As far as I can remember... I dont think so. I think you just show up at the designated area and go from there. I could be wrong though. As for the time... I think its around 8ish? Not sure...

Anyone can use the goggles, it's not a trek, you just go out in back of the lodge to the viewing area and a cm lets you use them. Very cool. It has to be dark, so depends on the time of year for the time i'd think.

The lodges have really cool activities. The movies on the beach are pretty cool too.

We've done the movie on the beach at the Beach Club. Is great fun and very relaxing.

I didn't know about the goggles - that sounds cool!

It's pretty cool. They blow up a big inflatable screen, and everyone moves the chairs into viewing positions. We took snacks and drinks and just sat there fir an hour and a half - 2 hours and watched the movie and people.

The only downside is the noise distractions at times from IllumiNations and Wishes.

But, barefoot on the sand, under the stars, in Disney, watching a Disney movie...awesome! clapping

I have heard of the movies before and it seems so cool! I would love to do that..but it would totally have to be a movie I'd seen before because I'd be too distracted.

Or a movie you don't really care about. I sat outside and watched the "Witch Mountain" movie with the Rock...until we had to go and I wasn't too sad about it.

Yeah I tend to agree I delved into it WITHOUT opening the link and it proved to be a couple of Hotels?? in Israel not ANY connection to Disney and they were suspicious links at that. So "color him Gone".

That sounds perfect.

What movie was it, though? Do you remember?

Any problem with mosquitos in the evening at the resorts? They're terrible in our part of FL, but I always imagined that Disney has some kind of "mosquito forcefield."

We've never had a problem. I also have always envisioned some sort of magical Disney mosquito forcefield that keeps guests comfortable at all times!

They do have a forcefield but it is not magical and does require a lot of hard work by a dedicated crew that comes out nearly every evening armed with Gators ( a heavy duty industrial grade golf cart type vehicle) and large, mounted power sprayers and back pack carried hand sprayers. They have a schedule of stops and they REALLY control the mosquito population. I read about this crew in a Disney related article but I simply do not remember where I saw it.
here is one link (I hope)
