Best holiday events for families at Disney

What would be your top recommendations for do-not-miss events during the holidays when visiting with a group of family members?

I don't know if Disney are still putting on this special event, but when I used to work at the Magic Kingdom I thought the Pirate and Princess Parties were really good for people of all ages! Everyone enjoys a good treasure hunt, and I loved the firework display (not that any fireworks will ever take Wishes place in my heart wink ). The parade was so exciting; the choreography of the fighting pirates was perfect and, let's face it, what girl doesn't forget that it isn't the real Jack Sparrow when he winks at you biggrin biggrin biggrin Haha, all us female castmembers became a pathetically overexcited jibbering mess when he used to come past our shop on his float!

I'm sorry, that Jack Sparrow love rant was pretty off topic wasn't it!?!!!!!

EDIT:

NOT THAT IT WASN'T THE REAL JACK SPARROW. IT WAS DEFINITELY THE REAL JACK SPARROW.

Just failed at How To Be A Disney Castmember 101 there, didn't I!

rolling That's yet another good thing about this being WDW for GROWNUPS biggrin We don't have to worry quite so much about being Disney PC silly

I think your Jack Sparrow rant was hilarious. I would have guessed that those parades got a bit old for people working on Main Street; good to know that you guys still loved watching...for whatever reason muchlove

At the risk of sounding like a broken record - Epcot's Candlelight Processional! My mom and aunt both went for the first time this year (we're all passholders, so it's shocking this was their first visit) and they were absolutely blown away about how special it is. I try and make this an annual family tradition.

Peg - I am 100% right there with you. I LOVE Captain Jack! When they were doing the show beside POTC (I think that's where Tony's pic is from?) I would float right along with the magic. Although I will say, sometimes Jack looked and acted much more like himself than other times. (One time, Jack seemed to have grown a bit Smile ) I'm looking forward to the next movie for sure...although I'm a little sad that Will won't be in it...especially since they FINALLY made him HOT at the end of the last movie! muchlove

Oh, and sorry - one more: if time permits, we love just going to all the resorts and seeing the amazing decorations, especially the Grand Floridian. The giant gingerbread house is a "can't miss."

If that photo was taken in Disney World then it must be that Jack Sparrow. Because in Disney World there is only one Jack Sparrow. The real one. So that must be him. Smile

Haha, the day he winked and waved at my friend I could not stop grinning. Seriously, we were reverted back to giggling school girls. We would all sneakily abandon our posts when the parade started (and the manager wasn't about) to go and watch.

I would say resort hopping to see all the cool things at the monorail/deluxe resorts...and...the Christmas party!

You know...I think your "school girl behaviour" - if observed by guests, would actually give Captn Jack a ring of aunthenticity...I mean, if y'all are that worked up about him...not that he needs a ring of authenticity. Because, you know, he's the real Captn Jack.

We need a pirate smiley...
