Big Hero 6

I am surprised no one has started a thread regarding Big Hero 6. With that said, having seen the movie earlier today, I quite enjoyed it. Is it better than the Incredibles, another animated superhero favorite of mine? Eh...probably not. I think Syndrome was more interesting than the villain from Big Hero 6. And the other members of the Big Hero 6 besides Hiro and Baymax could have better developed. The Immortals song from Big Hero 6 as the theme? Yeah, I think Top of the World by Greek Fire should have been given that it was played during the trailers but that's just me.

Now for the good points. The animation is just great. I'm really impressed of how they designed San Fransokyo. The action sequences were great. Hiro was an interesting lead who shockingly is the only one on the team who doesn't have real super powers compared to the others but what he lacks in power, he makes up for it in knowledge and intellect. Personality wise, he's an interesting lead because he faces a ton of conflict throughout the movie. During the climax, Hiro really learns what his purpose in life is supposed to be and that he can write his own future for the better. As for Baymax, the character everyone seems to love, he reminds me a lot of Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. Big in stature but has the most compassion.

I would say that if you enjoy watching the Marvel Universe films, I would definitely say see Big Hero 6. There are definitely elements taken from the Marvel Universe that are prevalent in Big Hero 6. If not, at least give it a chance. I wouldn't put Big Hero 6 in the same class as Lion King or Beauty and the Beast, but it's definitely on my Top 15 favorite Disney animated movies list.

I don't think BayMax was limited in speech at all. How can a personal healthcare companion be limited in speech. He didn't have many lines which is different in my eyes.

I stand corrected in that regard.

Just got home...two very enthusiastic thumbs up. The only thing that I would have changed is that I would have made a different person the villain. Since we're not doing spoilers yet, I won't disclose who I would have chosen, but I think that there was another way to make this movie deeper. The choice they made for the man behind the mask was good, but it could have been great. It had a slight air of predictability. I agree that Sanfransokyo was very well done. The blending of these two very famous cities was interesting without being distracting and even though you could easily identify elements from each city, they blended seamlessly into one. I loved the style of animation. It had a decidedly Japanese flair without being at all anime-like. I love Baymax and Hiro as characters and I think the supporting cast will make for a fun sequel. At times, the supporting characters reminded me a little bit of the gang from the Scooby Doo cartoons.

Spend a little time with the family and watch it, Watchmaker. I was actually pleasantly surprised. We laughed, we cried.

Right on. The DVD has been out for a little while here, so I got a head start, but I've easy watched it 20 times already. BH6 is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I've probably watched BH6 five times for every viewing of Frozen. laugh

So, I'm a little behind in the movie category. I just watched Big Hero 6 for the first time. I liked the movie. I can't say that I loved it.
