Booked the campground, but not exactly the dates I wanted

I really thought I was getting ahead of the reservation game by being 6 months out, but not quite. We wanted a regular full-hookup campsite for Oct. 30 - Nov. 13 and could have gotten those dates at a premium rate, about $25 more per night. I called back and changed it to a regular campsite when I played around with the on-line reservation system and found Oct. 26 - Nov. 8 available.

Last year we made last minute decisions to visit WDW and we were able to finalize our reservations less than 2 months out. Knowing that, I'll keep checking the available dates and possibly be able to get closer to our original plans. We can be very flexible with our plans, so I'm happy to have this much done.

I understand that most people want to stay at the gorgeous Disney hotels, but we have our motor home that we live in most of the time and the Fort Wilderness campground is one of the best "campgrounds" anywhere. It is a resort, on par with the rest of the Disney properties. We loved it last fall, and we're both looking forward to visiting again.

Hi Mickey, I am one of those that likes hotels as I have never enjoyed camping with the cold, bugs and no running water. BUT I have always liked the idea of motor homes with all my creature comforts, so sounds great fun. Do you decorate your camp spot for Halloween? Have seen the photos of what some people do and it looks such a fab thing to do. Good luck getting the dates that you want.

I think that a motor home would be cool! You can go anywhere and wherever you go, you are "home" in a sense.

I would love to stay at Fort Wilderness again, but I would only do it if we had an RV. I have such fantastic memories of going there every summer growing up. I agree you should keep trying for your dates, you never know when something will open up!

When I was a kid, my parents had a pop up camper. We stayed at Ft. Wilderness at least 6 times a year. Wonderful campground! So many activities to do there, many times we never went into the parks.
