Brad's First Trip to the Grand Floridian

I thought I'd get started on a bit of a trip report, since if I get too far behind I'll never catch up. We got here yesterday at about 9am local time. Easy flight and everything went smoothly getting inside the gates. Once we got here we checked in. Room wasn't read (never good) so we put our stuff in storage and headed over to the MK. First things to report:

Crowds: Awful. Spring break is in the air.
Weather: Wonderful. Almost enough to make up for the crowds. It's pretty much perfect during the day and just a tad chilly at night.

We went over to our usual first stop at Liberty Tree Tavern. We realized on our way in that our reservation was at 12:40 not 12:00 and we were a bit early even if it was at 12:00...we headed on over anyway just to see if we could get a table. Amazingly, given the crowds, there were CMs from LTT outside recruiting people to come in. Apparently the Spring Break crowd aren't aware that LTT rocks. The line for Crystal Palace was out the door, but LTT was practically empty.

We had our usual food: Clam Chowder, Fried Cheese, Pot Roast, Burger and Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. They did however have a "shamrock shake" for St. Patrick's Day. So we ordered that. It turned out to be a vanilla shake dyed green. Which was alright with me, but DW was unimpressed. Here's a picture of the shake and I'll pick up when I get back from the MK!

So Thursday night was pretty uneventful. I had some work to do back in the room and DW had some friends she needed to see. When she got done it was pretty late so we went over to the Gasparilla Grille (which I had never been to before) and had a burger and some nuggets. Pretty standard fare, but it's nice that that place is open so late.

Since my day was so boring I took a picture of the atrium in our building in the Grand Floridian:

The next day was more of me working while DW was off doing her thing. I hit Gasparilla again because it's easy and right outside. I had a roast beef sandwich. Still pretty boring. It's actually pretty good and I really like the chips you get everywhere in Disney World:

Since I'm still pretty boring, here's a picture of the exterior of the building we we're in:

After DW was done with her business we had a late lunch/early dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe. I thought it was pretty good overall. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but if I was staying here I'd probably go. The best thing there were the french fries that came with DW's steak. They were very possibly the best fries I've had at WDW, and I've had a lot of fries at WDW:

That night we went to the MK and I'll pick up there in the next post!

The steak was actually only so-so. As I told DW "I'd be willing to eat that steak to get those fries." But it wasn't my favorite steak.

Thats depressing. I love steak when it gets those chard marks on it, and it looks liked it has a glaze on it.

Continuing on a bit. That night we went to the Magic Kingdom. It was pretty busy at first, but as the night went on it actually got pretty sparse. By the end of the night we weren't having to wait for much. The park was scheduled to close at 12:00 but they extended it til 1AM and for that last hour we got a lot of riding in. For most of the night I was busy taking pictures for the Where in the World? game, so I don't have many to share. After that I was taking pictures of the Main Street Electrical Parade which are in that thread.

I did take some pictures of the new Winnie the Pooh line area, which is pretty cool I must say. I've attached on here:

I love the new WtP queue. I sort of walked through it at a fair clip the last time I was there - but boy, will that be a fun way to stand in line!

Did you get to ride the Jungle Cruise at nite? I've never done that, and recently, I've seen a lot of cute posts about how fun that is.
