Bummed!!!

We have our trip coming in 12 days. My wife, daughter and myself. Last night my daughter calls and tells me she can't go!!! sad Sad( This was her graduation trip that we set up in May. We couldn't find a week through the summer that we could make it and planned it for Oct. She was so excited to be able to go one last time with daddy. I've been able to take her 2 times before. Once when she was 5 and again when she was 15, just the 2 of us and we had the most amazing time. Got all the pics of her doing the goofy stuff she did when she was 5. She thought like most kids that her new job would let her off and it wouldnt be a big deal.
I'm excited that my wife Amy and I can go, this is our 1st trip to Disney together, but I'm a little sad that Bec wont be there.
I've revised all our dining reservations and called Southwest to cancel her flight. Sad day

Thanks guys, sometimes life lessons get more than just you. We will make the most out of it and now I will have to look and see if we need to change anything around, so that will keep me busy for a few days.
We will laugh and joke about this in the years to come. I will have to try and find her something special this year of course I will have to get her one of those "My dad went to Disney and all I got was the lousy shirt"

I'm so sorry Troy.

Makes me more nervous because I am in the same boat. If the Navy says "No" that means the entire trip is canceled. sad crossfingers

That is a bummer. I'm sorry. My recommendation is to change the tone of the trip from family to romance. There are tons of romantic things to do in WDW, and I'm sure you and your wife will have a great time!

Well this really is the pits especially when the kids grow up and become adults then life gets in the way of all the fun stuff. Troy, you and your wife have the opportunity to make new memories although they will be bittersweet. sad

Sorry to hear that Troy, but I will say, when you start going without kids, Disney becomes a whole new experience. That's part of what this whole forum is about! You and your wife will have a wonderful time I'm sure.

Bummer, indeed!

You need to take an 8x10 glossy of your daughter with you, and hold it up beside you in front of the Castle while your wife takes your picture "together", just like you posed the last two times y'all were there!

That is like flat Stanley, where you take a picture of Stanley, take pictures with him all over the world. You can use her picture in different places all over the parks. Maybe some of her favorite rides.
