Caribbean Beach Resort, Need input.

I will be staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort for the first time this May and want to know everything about it. (And I mean Everything)

So If you have any Info, Tips, Ideas, opinions, facts or anything else please spill it.

Haven't stayed there yet, but we looked around on our last trip and have been checking it out for a future trip. Looks like Martinique is the village closest to Old Port Royale (the center of the resort, housing the food court, restaurant, shops, and main pool/pool bar).

We were most "taken" with the themeing in Jamaica, however, which is across Barefoot Bay (the big lagoon that the resort is situated around) from Old Port Royale, but is supposed to be the first bus stop for Disney transport. We don't bus much, but it's always good to be the first bus stop at a multi-stop resort as you get picked up and dropped off first.

The theme pool looks pretty great from what I can tell, but DW and I are more "quiet pool" people. laugh

We are also looking forward to watching the sunset from Caribbean Cay--the island in the middle of Barefoot Bay. That's another reason why we like Jamaica--it's right next to the bridge to Caribbean Cay.

You planning to eat there much?

Just breakfast every day. I usually get a child's breakfast. It's satisfying but not too much and the price is under 5 bucks. You even get a drink.

The other Resort meals I have booked for this trip are Boma and Ohana (Spelling)

CBR is gorgeous; you'll really enjoy it, I'm sure. It's a completely different feel from POP, but offers just as much fun PLUS a lot of relaxation.

Martinique and Trinidad North are the preferred buildings closest to Old Port Royale. Agreeing with SpaceAce, Jamaica is a really nice village, too. If you're trunks are good, try Jamaica; if you'd like to minimize walking, go for one of the preferred buildings.

Caribbean Cay is a little island with some covered "porch swings," picnic tables, and winding pathways. Kids will get bored with it quickly, which probably leaves it to adults a lot of the time. This could be a nice place to sit after grabbing a meal from the market street food court.

The theme pool is quite incredible. I haven't seen it since it was completed, but the pictures are amazing!

A big drawback to CBR, however, is the lobby being so far away from everything else (though it's sort of close to Barbados). There is a Concierge at Old Port Royale, so you can make dining/show reservations without trekking to the Custom House, but for any other lobby-related need, you'll have to either walk for a while or take the internal bus.

Do you guys have a village picked out?

That's great. It's such a pretty village, and I really like the architecture there as well. All of the villages are slightly different, and I think Jamaica has the most intricate and striking design to its architecture.

Looks from the map like you'll want to note on your reservation a request for building 45--that's closest to the bridge.

It is our favorite of the moderates, primarily because of the food court area. We always go over to the CBR for breakfast one day, because you can get those Mickey Waffles there!! mickey

We like the food court because you can always find something to eat that will suit everyone.

Also, we're keen on the color and design scheme because it DOES remind you of the Caribbean!

Yummmmm!

CBR is very pretty, and I know plenty of people who won't stay anywhere else! I've never stayed there, but what's deterred me is the huge layout and the long walk to the lobby area. I think that as long as you get a building that's close to where you want to be (including bus stops, if you're Disney Transporters), it will be an amazing stay.

Barefoot Bay is just gorgeous, too. Are you a fisherman?

Naa, Fishing has never been my thing. I do plan on some relax time on a hammock by the water. (Even though last night I dreampt I went to Disney and was attacked by 2 alligators. They were only 4 foot so I fended them off, but then I got in trouble for hurting one of them.

Do you attribute this to our alligator conversation?

Also, why are you picking on baby alligators? Pick on one your own size.

First how do you know how big I am? (I think that can actually be found in another thread)

I would say that the Alligator came from a book I have called "So you want to move to Florida" Under the Challenges chapter. Mixed with an article I read that says they can smell a dog in a house. (I have 2 Mini Dachshunds so that would be a concern of mine)

The size came from me reading that Disney removes 4 foot or bigger alligators.

The whole being Gobbled up theme is a common nightmare for me, But it's usually sharks. And never when I'm in the water only when im aroud it.

Off-topic, but is this from a larger series of "so you want to move to..." books?

Did having your state encased in ice move the timeline up at all?

No, the ONLY things that might move the timeline up are the proper lottery numbers coming in.

I have heard a lot of people are moving out. Maybe you can get a deep discount. You ever hung out down there?

That would have to be some deep discounts. Have you seen how much a house at Celebration is? I'm more of a middle class household.

I have not visited while on property but I have done a lot of research on homes in the are and the town itself.

I Might be able to get a town home there but it would really stretch me thin.

On this topic I thought I'd draw attention to this thread:

What are the prices like? I assumed they were high, but I never looked.

Townhouses and Condos start at 200,000. I see some single family homes starting at 300,000 with an average of 600,000 and up. Wow, that's about 100,000 less than what I saw last year. Still a bit steep for my blood, but it would be very cool.

depending on where in the world you are that can be sky high. in texas you can pretty much buy mansions for those prices.

Here in central Indiana starter homes go from the high 90's to the early 100's (My 1400 sf 4BR cost me 150,000) So I think 200,000 for a town home is a lot for me.

But they are really nice homes and location, location, location.

BTW...
Sunny Eclipse is the best animatronic. He puts on a long show, has great movement, and you don't just get a brief view of him. He has to stand up to very close and long guest scrutiny.

As I've never seen a live alien though, I don't know how realistic he looks!

Marzyar just gets overly excited when it comes to Animatronics and/or Disney Zombies.

Have you located any advice that's helped you with CBR? Any great tips?
