Boardwalk BORING?

So, yeah, everyone touts the Boardwalk as this great place for date night, but every time I've been there in the past few years, it's been totally dead. No "streetmosphere," no really superb restaurant meals, etc. Jellyrolls is great, but when I'm there it's either packed with cast members or practically empty. Does anyone even GO to the Atlantic Dance Hall?

ESPN Zone can be fun. Jellyroll's is always smoky...

I really don't see the appeal either. I keep looking for what's so great about the Boardwalk. Everything closes so early...

People seem to like the 'street performers'?

I didn't really know the Boardwalk was considered a that hip of a place. It is useful for getting over to Beaches and Cream!

It's felt like the street performers are getting fewer and fewer (for the past couple of years). Is Disney making cut-backs there as well?

For me, it's always hard to know the popularity of things, since I pretty much go out of my way to do everything at 'off hours' and 'off-season'.

I have gone over there pretty much since it opened. I didn't get it then, and I don't get it now. I thought it was going to be a destination area unto itself, but it just never seems like anything other than some restaurants and the standard Disney resort shops. I wonder if when Disney thinks of these things to try out, they forget to look again after a year or so and do some tweaking.

I have been in Jellyrolls twice, and it is way too smokey and way to cliquey. Maybe I went on CM nights, but it seems that the entertainment responds to a select few for requests and ignores everyone else? Either that or I didn't drink enough.

I think this is the trap a lot of theme parks fall into and Disney usually is able to avoide it. Maybe not here... waiting

laugh I'm going with the latter! Seriously, though, it has gotten cliquey...it's just not fun anymore sad

Sadly I have to agree with that. We have stayed at the Beach Club Resort several times and the Boardwalk has been pretty dead. We love going over to the pizza joint there but other than that, it's not a "happening" place. I think they might need to rethink this area in the near future.

Maybe this should have been the renovation over PI.

Well maybe the outcry about the Adventurer's Club will give them some hints on what might work in the future.

Smoky? I thought Florida was smoke free? I actually just saw an ad during the hockey game tonight.

I think a lot of places that are "smoke free" still allow it in bars.

Lots of places are trying to pass smoke free laws, so maybe Florida is following New York and erradicating smoking from all indoor spaces?

laugh Hi everyone,

Spaceace, I like your avatar.

Many states are passing no-smoking laws that exclude bars for which food sales account for ten percent or less of total revenue.

I agree with almost everyone here. I mean, is Atlantic Dance Hall even open?

Thanks LeCellBuff!

Yes, I remember asking a waitress at Jellyrolls once why you could still smoke there, and she said it was because they don't serve food (only popcorn).

That makes sense.

It's interesting though. I wonder if Jellyroll's banks on there being enough people to want to go someplace to smoke while in WDW.
