Caribbean Beach Resort Opinion

Hi guys!

I've recently just changed resort from POP Century, to the Caribbean Beach Resort, (the free dining for this fall, has restrictions, and Pop Century wasn't part of it). My question is to those of you, who have stayed at CBR, what is it like? What is the best room/building to get? Basically anything you can tell me!!

Thanks in advance!

We stayed at CBR back in 2008. It is a beautiful resort! You really feel like you are in the Caribbean. It is a HUGE resort though. I would suggest getting a room in a building closest to the main building where the food court is. The pool area looks like something straight out of the POTC ride.

Last time I stayed there was when I was a kid. Almost 20 years ago. The one thing I remember the most was the long walk back after we got off the bus. So yeah... request a room close to the main building. It was a great resort from what I remember, and I know I loved the pool there.

Hi edq!

We stayed at the CBR in 2005, and I have to say, we REALLY REALLY liked it alot! It's just...fun!

We had a room in the Jamaica building, section 42, which was across the pond from the main area, Old Port Royal. Here's a link to a good map of the property:

http://allears.net/acc/ResortMaps/CBeach.pdf

If you want to be close to the main foodcourt area, then the Martinique and Trinidad North are the best choices. But I also think Jamaica and Aruba are good choices, especially if you can get one of the sections closer to the bridge (such as Aruba, 51 or 52, or Jamaica, 45 or 42), as there is a pathway and bridge to the main foodcourt area.

I really would try to avoid Trinidad South, as it is REALLY far away from the main area. Unless you don't care. Not to scare you, but that was the year Joe and I decided to go running in the morning before going to the parks (bad bad bad idea in retrospect), and the far end of Trinity South was SOOO far away that one gentleman apparently felt it was remote enough to stand on the patio outside his room in his underwear drinking his coffee. Just sayin'....

The main pool looks pretty cool for kids, but each building also has a pool, and when we were there, it was super quiet at the individual building pool but quite noisey and active at the main pool.

They also have (or at least did in 2005) paddleboats that you could rent at the resort to go out on the water. We did that one afternoon and had fun. And the hammocks on the sand are nice and relaxing.

We thought the grounds we beautiful - lush, green, and well-kept.

They have, since 2005, added pirate-themed rooms, which look pretty cool.

We would definitely stay there again at some point.

I loved it!!! We use to always stay at the Caribbean Resort. In fact, I like it better than the Beach Club. I know, lots of people will say I am crazy about that but I do. Mr Hub had to drag me kicking and screaming to try the Polynesian because I was so happy with it. Lots of food choices there. We always had our own car so it did not matter which building we were in. It is a very pretty resort.

Why did you like it better than the Beach Club?

Thanks for the info everyone!! I really appreciate it yay
I got an email from Mouse Fan Travel a few hours after I posted this.

"Well, after being on the phone all day with Disney " and switching all of my clients reservations --- they have opened up some more rooms in the Free Dining promotion!!!
Now there is availability at the Pop Century Resort!! I can now get you a standard room at the Pop Century with the Free Quick Service Dining plan upgraded to the regular dining plan"

After everyone being so helpful, I feel terrible that now I don't need this info!! Sorry!!! sad

No need to feel terrible! That's great news about the free dining offer you got!!

And your post gave us a chance to reminisce about our stays and also find out more that we may not have known about the resort! Helpful info for all of us!

So YAY all around!!

I actually just checked out of CBR yesterday. My friend and I stayed in the new Pirates of the Caribbean room and it was amazing! The resort is real nice, the food court is great, and our room was fabulous with so many intricate details. It was definitely worth the extra money. Plus, we stayed in building 36 which is literally right next to the main bus stop so we didn't have to take a resort shuttle bus from a smaller bus stop to get to the main bus stop. It was very convenient
