Cheap Romance

Usually when you ask about romantic restaurants, people mention the expensive stuff. What do you guys like for just regular priced stuff? Can you think of any counter service that would qualify as romantic?

I always go to the Epcot standby. I think you can stop at several of the World Showcase spots and have a nice meal there. Probably not on a crowded day though. I may be kind of weird but I think that at Pinnochio's Haus overlooking IASW is kind of nice too.

Great question. Here are a couple of ideas:

1. Grab to-go food (and maybe a bottle of wine) from Captain Cook's at the Polynesian and head out to the beach for a picnic (preferably at sunset...)

2. Get some Pizza-to-go at the Spoodles window and either sit along the Boardwalk (if it's quiet) or head over to the Beach Club beach and swing on one of the covered swings.

3. Share a couple of appetizers at one of the Deluxe resort lounges (Territory Lounge at Wilderness Lodge or Victoria Falls at AKL are good ones).

4. Get to-go food at Roaring Fork and take it out to the Wilderness Lodge Beach at night (it's ALWAYS empty down there)

5. If you're at Animal Kingdom during sunset, grab some to-go food from Flame Tree or Yak and Yeti and go sit down by the river (there are several out-of-the-way table and chairs areas off the path between Asia and Africa). There are beautiful views of the Tree of Life and Expedition Everest.

Those are great ideas, Bali.

I can also suggest those tables closest to the water at Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom.

And sitting in some of the more secluded back rooms at Tangerine cafe can be very romantic, as can taking your Japanese take-out into the gardens on the left-hand side of the Japan pavilion.

Hrm...I thought this was a great topic. I'm trying to come up with more ideas for affordable romance. I think lots of variations on Bali's picnic idea are great. Get less expensive food and go take advantage of a free view. I wonder if they'd hassle you if you sat down to eat near the water by the France Pavillion?

There are several resorts where you can get romantic views from your balcony and then you could just go out and hang out there and have room service. I guess though most of the hotels in question aren't really very cheap and room service isn't either. You could pick up food somewhere else and bring it back though!

You're right, but there are lots of romantic places at values and moderates, too. Sitting out by the bridge and the lake at Pop Century is beautiful, and CBR has some AMAZINGLY romantic beaches. CSR has those fun hammocks and the hot tub, which are very romantic in the evenings. And POR and POFQ have carriage rides. You can also rent boats there and head over to DTD to "star-gaze" Smile

Lots of great cheapie romantic options around there.

DW and I are hoping to take advantage of those beaches this fall muchlove We're looking forward to getting a bottle of South African wine at AKL and watching Illuminations from a beach at CBR.
