which is closer to the magic kingdom, the contemporary or the grand floridian?

ooh. good question. I think it's the Contemporary, actually. At least, that's the only resort I've walked to the MK from.
(Can you walk to the MK from the GF?)

I think there's a walkway around Seven Seas Lagoon (the one they paved with the commemorative bricks), so that you can walk from GF to the MK. Not positive, though.
From the map on this page, it looks like Contemp is closer than GF.

Isn't the little causeway where they store the barges for the nighly lagoon light show between the GF and the MK? You might have to swim that part if you walked from the GF.

I don't think the walkway is complete around the lagoon. We have walked from the Contemporary to MK in about 10 minutes. However, if you take the monorail the then GF is closer. If you were to take the monorail from Contemporary it takes about 20 minutes to get to MK due to the stops at TTC, Poly, and GF. However since the GF is the last stop it's only about 5 minutes or so.
Let's remember it all started with a mouse

Longer getting there, shorter getting back. I think I'd rather get there faster than get back faster though.
Hi,
"We get there fast so we can take it slow"--Beach Boys, from "Kokomo".
Works for me.

Yeah, but after a long day and having tired feet...getting back sooner is pretty awesome!
