Would You Ever Want to Take a Really Long Trip?

I've been recently thinking about how much I enjoy the first day or two when I get to WDW because I know I still have almost all of the trip ahead of me. I know it would be expensive, but would you guys ever want to spend a month or so there, or would it be too much? I'm keep thinking it would be amazing to get there and know you have a month ahead of you.

A bit too much for me. A week seems to do me fine, as I can hit the highlights of the parks in 2 or 3 days and the rest is spent in the sun, shopping or EATING!

(Having stated this, have someone offer me a free MONTH at WDW... and I'm THERE!!!!)

I'm pretty much agreed with this. It'd be a fun experiment, but I fear I'd get Disney-ed out.

You'd definitely have to approach the trip differently and pace yourself. The bigger problem in my estimation is that I haven't had great luck doing non theme park things in Orlando. Which makes it hard to spend too long there.

If I had perfect weather, I think I could do it. I love laying in the sun and reading/swimming/relaxing for hours on end. If I could pool hop and do it at a different pool every day I'm in!

I would have to stay at a DVC resort (preferrably a new one each week) so that I could have a kitchen, washer/dryer and BBQ.

Each day would be perfectly spent sleeping in and making breakfast in the room. Heading to a park for a couple hours, maybe having lunch there. Head back to the room, relax at the pool, BBQ for dinner and maybe watch a movie in the room, head to DtD for a movie or other entertainment or go watch the fireworks or other night time show.

If you really took it easy, I think you could do it without getting sick of the parks. Of course, it would be easier if you were into golfing or fishing, but I still think we could do it and enjoy a month.

Oooh...I've always wanted to spend more than one day at each of the water parks and some time playing mini golf!

And as Andrew just added...an endless supply of money would probably help too! silly

If I'm spending a month at Disney World, the endless supply of money had better be a given!

I think I'd be able to do the month, too, though. Good call on making sure you're in at least a one-bedroom villa. I'd definitely want that jacuzzi tub!

And I think I'd want to be at BWV or BCV so that I had walking access to two parks and all of the restaurants in Epcot. Also, can my month be October so I can snack on food and wine festival stuff and go see the concerts?

I'd have to hit some non-Disney restaurants.

I'd probably do something silly like have "No Disney Tuesday" or something, and every Tuesday do a non-Disney event like Sea World, Universal, etc.

It would be SO nice to have these problems to work out! mickey

I would have to do that too. I would have to have a kitchen and a car, but I think it would be fun. I would want to change resorts every week and spend a lot of time doing all of the extra stuff.

In addition to a "No Disney Tuesday" type thing I would want a "No Theme Park Friday" (maybe even two days a week) where i would go explore the resorts and all of the fun stuff there is to do there. I think that is the only time I could do that stuff because when I go I want to spend all my time in the parks...I would LOVE a long, leisurely visit.

Me too! I enjoy exploring the resorts almost as much as I enjoy the parks, so I think that'd be a big part of the month. I'd also find a bunch of cool CMs and make them come to my place for Barbeques on the weekends yay

It's shocking how much more important our daily decisions would become, no?

NO WAY could I spend a month there yuck

Now, don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore WDW but part of the excitment for me is only being able to be there for about a week and then planning to go back! It's like vacation foreplay laugh

I can distinctly remember that the first time I was there for a whole week, I felt DISNEYED OUT at the end! I think I just needed to relax more--I have it down to a science now biggrin

Also, I heard the other day about how we're hard-wired to "want" things, and then, when we finally get them, our brains immediately move on to other "wants." Maybe that's what happens when we're at WDW...

I think the key to long trips is to remember they're long and take it easy. Don't try to do everything in the first few days.

Really long trips are the only time we've ever found to include stuff like Universal or Sea World. Otherwise there's just too much Disney to do!

I disagree! I do EVERYTHING in the first few days, then relax the rest of the time. Then I don't ever feel like I'm missing anything.

I guess that it depends on the crowds, day of the week, etc of each day.

Hi,

I spent 12 days/11 nights in WDW December 3-14, 2003, my second solo trip, and was eager to go home by the tenth day.

Were you just Disney-ed out or did something else make you ready to go?

Then it's time to go visit Universal! Then you can start Disney all over again! laugh

I can totally empathize. Some trips I just hit overload and I'd like to do something nice and quiet at home. Not that often though. wink
