<Concept>Adults only day at the parks!

In the thread about the casino, someone brought up the thought of not having kids around if Disney had a casino on property.

Imagine if Disney offered a brief period once a year in the park(Drunk where you had to be a minimal age to enter.

I honestly believe it could be some of the most crowded times they could experience as a lot of folks would THINK it would be a slower, more leisurely visit.

I'm not trying to exclude kids from the parks, and there IS a certain charm about them running around making racket, crying, spilling stuff and generally creating human barriers as you walk along. biggrin

Disney wouldn't even have to mess with their peak times, as they could do this on a Tuesday-Thursday in May or something. After all, none of the folks coming would have to miss class!

Call me Scrooge if you like, but give me your opinions.

Ha -- I was the one who said no kids in the casino. I think it would be a great idea, though as a teacher I doubt I'd be able to go on a day like that. It would never happen because people plan trips year round and there's no WAY Disney is going to turn away a family in the middle of their trip (though I suppose I could see it done at ONE park at a very off peak time -- probably EPCOT if any).

That said, in theory, I love the idea!

I love the idea in theory, but I think it would be so packed you wouldn't be able to move. I could be wrong, but any thing that only happens once a year at WDW is likely to be packed, especially something as utopian as a kid-less WDW day.

I've been daydreaming about an "adults only" week at Disney World for YEARS. I doubt they'll ever do it, but it's nice to think about what it would be like without having to worry about getting bashed in the ankles by strollers or having to listen to whiny, hyper kids all day. Or having to watch my language in front of all the "little ears". mickey

Heh-heh.. I figured you'd be on my side!

One of the funniest things I ever saw was about 30 years ago in the restaurant in the Contemporary. (Was it the Concourse Cafe back then?) Anyway, there was a kid at a table near us that was talking and whining and bitching and moaning and this went on and on and on. You could tell people all around this family were perturbed about it, yet being polite no one said a word. As usual, the parents were oblivious that their perfect little darling was disturbing the peace.

Finally, a kid of about 8 or 9 at a nearby table stood up and yelled at the top of his lungs, "SHUT UPPPPP!!!". Every table in the restaurant applauded and laughed at the same time.

That's hilarious laugh If I ever have kids, I'm going to train them to do things like that.

Regarding the disney adults-only day, we've long discussed an "adults-only" hard ticket event, like the MNSSHP or MVMCP.

You wouldn't have to close the parks during the day, but just give ample warning that on Tuesday evening each week, from 7-midnight, one park will be open to adults only (who have purchased hard tickets to be there). So, the first week in the month, Tuesday evening is MK adults-only night, the second week: Tuesday evening is Epcot adults-only night, etc...

There is genius in WDWFG!!!

That's a good idea - or if they did a 10pm-3am adults only thing -- I bet that would be really successful. I would totally skip an early morning to enjoy that!

Good thought--just make it later in the evening. So, say, after the fireworks are over, it's adults only until 3am.

They do that for grad nights, right?!? Why not for us?

I don't know if the "Disney's Jungle Trek" park will be adults only or not I'm betting that the $250 a ticket price tag will keep most of the younger set away. Guess we gotta wait till it opens to find out.

AND it's got to be different than EMH, in that ALL the rides have to be running. I mean, what's the point of having the parks to ourselves if we can't ride all our favorite rides, right?

Yeah the idea of a 10-3 hard ticket with everything open but adults only could actually be a huge money maker. One key point though: What makes them adults? If they let in 18 yr olds it could wind up being worse than during the day.

This is true, but if an 18-yr-old chooses to spend their 10pm-3am in a Disney park vs. in some bar in downtown Orlando, they're OK with me. biggrin

Besides, there'll be so many of us AARPers there, they'll have to watch their backs.

They can help keep us awake when we fall asleep on the park benches and what not.

Staying awake is a serious problem for me on the 3 o'clock EMH. We go with the intent of doing the whole thing and then when 1 rolls around we start getting sleepy. We're so old!

Maybe not $100. I don't mind the kiddos THAT much! I might shell out something between an e-ride night cost and an MVMCP cost--Maybe $25 or $30?

Well I'd pay more than I'd pay for a party. I guess it depends on what the crowds are expected to be like. The higher the ticket price though, the lower the likely crowds.

That's a great point. If I can pay more for lower crowds, that might be worth it.

Which of course leads to the question:

How much would you pay to have it to yourself!

I've always thought that being alone in the parks would be pretty creepy. I definitely need other people there.

I've talked about how much i enjoy World Showcase right after Epcot opens when very few people are there. Thats about as close to empty as I want it to be.

Now, if I could have it alone EXCEPT for all my WDWForGrownups friends and I.....

Well obviously it would be pretty creepy if it were completely empty. But I could certainly deal with just a thousand people or so. If you imagine that the typical attendance at WDW is like what 70k per day, if you wanted to get it down to 5 you'd just have to pay ticket prices at 14x the normal rate!
