Coral Reef restaurant

So I have noticed that people either love or hate the Coral Reef restaurant. I have it on my list to try this trip. I noticed it also gets very mixed reviews on all ears. So I am asking all you wonderful people on the forum what you think of this place? The DH and I love seafood and we like to try interesting food. Is it worth using one of my dining credits?

We ate at the Coral Reef on our last trip in January. We quite enjoyed it and would go back again. And the view is spectacular!

Well, I am sure you already read this on Allie's post, but just in case...I shall post again. laugh

In my opinion, it is probably the worst restaurant in WDW. Now, the atmosphere, decor, service is excellent. The seafood is less than desirable. They do not offer many "seafood" options. It is like seafood pasta or a steak. If I am paying $$$ for seafood, I better be able to order Red Snapper, King Mackerel, Lobster Tail, and/or Crab. The food is just very so-so. That is my opinion though - I know others like it.

Yeah you probably saw what I thought too lol, we have eaten there twice and really enjoyed it. Hubby loves fish and thought his salmon was one of the best meals the whole trip. I think you've gotta do it once just for the view if nothing else.

We're fans of the Coral Reef. The atmosphere is really great, and we've enjoyed our food. I say give it a try.

well am a fan of Coral Reef as I have eaten there 3 times and all 3 times I have not been disappointed. I have made reservations as well for my upcoming trip. I think that everyone is different in their tastes and exceptions (and that is great) but I always believe you have to try it at least once to see for yourself. But until you do how do you really know?

As I was eating dinner at Coral Reef, I could see the fish in the tank looking at me like they knew. It felt weird eating fish while fish were watching.

I think the food and atmosphere are wonderful. I've eaten there 4 times and have never had any problems.

Well I think we are going to try it for lunch. I have wanted to eat there for awhile so I am going to take the plunge! Although I never thought about the fact that the fish would be staring at me well I eat their friends. laugh

I literally just ate there the other day. I ordered the steak and it was so tough and grissly I had to send it back. And I have NEVER sent back food before... Ever. So I got the pasta instead. It was better but still lacking. The atmosphere is great but your dining credit would be better used elsewhere unfortunately.

I have heard it's a hit or miss. We went there once for our anniversary and the waiter was wonderfully attentive to the point that he had a 1/2 bottle of really good champagne and wondered if wanted to finish it? SURE!!!! We were on the DP and so some people say service is slower because of it. The food was expensive and if OOP I wouldn't go, but sure we'd try it again. But there are sooooo many at Epcot so have tried to move around.

It really used to be a gem, but I think when the Imagineering dinners left it went steadily downhill.

So I just finished making my ADR's for our September trip and I did include Coral Reef. We decided to try the restaurant for lunch. What's a Disney trip without a little adventure. mickey

I love Coral Reef! My philosophy is to try everything once. Coral Reef is one of my boyfriends and I's favorite restaurants.
