Decorating With Disney?

How many of you have Disney related decorations in your house? We're thinking about getting a couple of Larry Dotson paintings that we like. What do you have?

Well, my home doesn't have a lot yet but check out my office (from last year):

That's impressive I had forgotten that ZapperZ had shown us pics of his office in the welcome thread.

You can go to them on his blog at:

Even the kleenex box is Disney! And the giant Dopey in the corner is a nice touch Wink

What's the framed picture above your computer monitor? I can't tell if it's Cinderella's Castle or Westminster Palace in London confused

We have the standard equipment for Disney fans - some kitchen gadgets, framed prints, snowglobes and picture frames.

Oh dear, this is where I embarrass myself.

One part of my living room is decorated to the hilt with Disney stuff. This includes pins, figurines, stuffed figures, and other souvenirs.

And of course, some of my pin collection:

I'll have to break out more pictures sometime, but we've got a thing or two.

The thing I'm most proud of is a replica of a Mickey Mouse table that was sold at Lake Buena Vista in that shop where they sell all the Disney art. The original table was iron with a glass top. My dad recreated it for my wife for Christmas one year by having the frame made out of steel, with the Mickey's on the sides made from wood. This thing is huge and weighs a ton.

This was the ONLY way we'd get it, because the original was about 3 grand, and I believe the last one wasn't even for sale when we looked at it.

Wow!

@Zapperz: Everything is so ORGANIZED! I really like the displayed pins. Now instead of selling my pins, I might have to get a few display cases. They're so artistic.

@MT: That table is gorgeous! It's understated, quirky, and classy at the same time.

Couple more....

I got the Disney Collection cabinet from a collectibles gift shop that was closing up. I knew the guy that ran it and I'd admired it for years. When he closed, he called me and told me to come get it.

I'm with Bali, you guys have done an amazing job of organization. Do you ever get the stuff out or does it pretty much always stay there?

Rock on. awesome It's the perfect display case.

MY personal Disney collection includes a couple of prints (one of them signed!) by David E. Doss. One is of characters on pails (below) and the other is of all four WDW parks and the DCL depicted on pails (can't find that one on his website...). I love these--they make me feel so relaxed!

MouseTraveler and ZapperZ, your collections are beautiful! I'm very impressed!

I've been collecting snow globes for years. My two favorites are probably my Villains snow globe and my California Adventure snow globe! I haven't bought any in a few years, but I'm thinking a new purchase is in order! laugh

You can also see Andrew's collectible WDW plates, we actually saw one of these in a collection inside One Mans Dream!

As much as I love those snowglobes (which one's going to be next DL??), I'm really excited about those plates!

Gives me a whole new reason to start scouting out garage sales again (hooray!)

Man you guys all have great collections!

@ZapperZ: Would you say you're in the "upper-echelons" of pin collectors, or are there guys who dwarf you?

@MouseTraveler: Is the wooden case a Disney product as well?

@DisneyLove: Is the villians piece a globe or a plate? It looks like it should be a plate, but it almost looks like she's inside a globe?

Nope, just a standard curio cabinet.

Mine is like that all the time. With the exception of adding new pins to the frames and switching a few things here and there to rotate what is being displayed, everything looks roughly the same.

Quick question--do you trade with those pins? As in, are those your "keep forever unless I find a really good online trade" pins and you have another stash of "general trading" pins elsewhere?

I have never been into the pins thing personally, but WOW, those are impressive!

What incredible collections!

Unfortunately, I don't have much disney decor at the moment. I will have to remedy that!

Yeah, I'm feeling a bit of an inferiority complex. I'm not feeling like a real Disney fan anymore... mad

Hahaha! No. While I'm not a "messy" person, I'm not a neat-freak either.

The Disney displays are in the front area, which is adjacent to the sitting room/parlor, and the TV room. So it is a "guest" area (to use Disney's phrase). I tend to keep that area normally tidy and presentable, in case I have friends dropping by on short notice.

No, those are the pins we want to keep. We have several pin albums of the pins we use for trading.

It is a snow globe, everything is outside the globe except for the Evil Queen, who is inside the globe!

Annie, that's a picture of London. It's the first framed thing I put on my wall when I first got an office with a door. I figured I was moving up in the world at the time (yeah, right Wink ).

ZapperZ, your stuff is amazing. I LOVE the pins. I'm a pin collector but not a serious one. I really only get/keep the ones that mean something to me. Like the one DH found of Mickey at a computer (I'm a programmer) or Mickey carrying Minnie over the threshold (our honeymoon was at WDW).

MouseTraveler, I LOVE that table. I think I'm going to have to get King Charming to make me something like that. We can have glass now that the kids are older (maybe... they're teenagers so I'm not 100% sure that's a good idea yet). Also love your display cases!!!
