The Disney Food Challenge...

Well today we added another ADR onto our list for October...It's Via Napoli...Why?...Because my DS wants to try and finish the Mezzo Metro this time..We ordered it on our last visit..We had starters. ( Big mistake ) Then the 18" monster arrived at our table..Whoa!.. eek I can't remember how many slices it had but it was never ending...And the bottle of house wine my DW and myself consumed was soon to be replaced by another..( Yep..Us Scots like our vino ) ..But here's my question..Have you ever took on a food challenge at WDW.?.It may be the Kitchen Sink..Or a 48oz steak..And here's the question...Did you win the challenge.?..Don't tell lies now..Look what happened to Pinocchio... wink

No I don't take any food challenges as I learned a long time ago that my eyes are much bigger than my stomach. wink

No, I'm not that crazy to do those challenges. Do they offer some type of reward for those? I know for Shula's, you get your name on the wall or something. And I also know from Man vs Food, there was a spot in San Francisco that had a kitchen sink challenge that considerably larger than the kitchen sink at Beaches and Cream where if you finish the entire thing by yourself and all the melted ice cream on the tray in 30 minutes, you get free ice cream for a year. (When Adam Richman did the challenge, he had an hour but I guess people have shockingly finished it under 30 minutes afterwards by the looks of it eek ) I don't know if Beaches and Cream offers a reward for completing their kitchen sink.

Here's the place in San Fran I was talking about:

I set out one rainy evening to drink at every bar around Crescent Lake

Martha's
Ale and Compass
Crews Cup
Hannah's
Swan Lobby
Dolphin lobby
Leaping libations
Belle Vue
Atlantic Dancehall
Jelly Rolls

And here the quest ended...a glorious failure.

Never tried a food challenge, never gonna. And at my age, my appetite is only going to decrease even further. But back in the day, when I was a teenager or perhaps a bit older, I might've been willing to take one of these challenges on. Probably wouldn't have finished, but I might've tried.

I agree..The Man V Food freaks me out..I could never challenge that..But this Mezzo Metro is on...

Out DH2 (age now 26) usually was the human hoover, so any food not consumed by the rest went right down his. We still suspect hollow legs as he just ate all day long. We went to the Wishes Dessert Buffet, and despite the cost, they LOST money because he ate the whole 3 hours! Boma's also took a hit two different trips. Sometimes it's fun just to watch others watching him..... waiting

We've never done a challenge. We are tackling the Mezzo Metro at Via Napoli but there's 5 of us with no plans for appetizers. I also have a 7 year old son who eats more than his two sisters and I put together! laugh We also plan to take on the Kitchen Sink (with my mother added in to that mix) but we plan to do a light lunch before that one and have no intention of finishing it. I love the sound if the challenge but have no desire to deal with how my body would feel afterwards.

I have done the monorail crawl many times, which is plenty challenging to me. We start at Tambu Lounge for Lapu Lapus (that knocks me on my butt right away) and the bread basket, then head to Mizners for more cocktails, nuts and a cheese plate, then off to the California Grill for more cocktails and dinner.

The one that I would like to do, but know that I can't is the DFB Cupcake Crawl

I have to do crawls or challenges either vicariously, or over a long period of time! But I like making lists and checking them off. Unfortunately, they end up on my backside. Dang.
