It will be interesting to see how the test goes and if they roll this out to all resorts.

I never wind up using the cup enough anymore. It becomes a hassle to carry it all the time and I wind up using it for two days and then leaving it in the room!

The signs clearly state the refillable mugs are only for use during your stay. People tend to ignore that. I'm sure there are people who saw others using old mugs think it must be ok to use an old mug and decide to bring the one they just bought on their next trip. Even my friend who has been going to Disney every year for the last 6 or 7 years told me I should bring my mug back this year since she saw others using old mugs. I had already planned on buying a new one with the new design. Then we decided to go with the Deluxe Dining Plan this year so we'll get a mug anyway.

I wonder with the addition of the mug to the regular dining plan starting next year if this will lessen the "drink theft" since everyone on the dining plan will get a mug.

Personally, I thought the refillable mug was a great investment. It paid for itself with the coffee I drank every morning. Then I used it in the afternoons while we were sitting by pool. I use it every day at work.

Now..um..I am not really that adamant either way about using your old mug..but doesn't the chip in the cup seem a little..well..much? I know there are drink thieves out there (on our last trip we saw someone using a mug that wasn't even from Disney)...but the cost of soda vs the cost of implanting each mug with a cup? This is getting a little too Borune Identity or some stupid movie like that for me.

I'm with Bella on this one - seems like overkill to implant a chip in a mug. Is pop really all that expensive anyhow for Disney? Sure, I know there are millions of visitors, but with everything else that IS paid for, maybe just take a dang hit and give everyone free pop! And a mug! Dammit!

I never even thought about taking our mugs back after we got them the first time. But like Chip, we just don't see the value because it's more of a hassle for us to use it, so after 1 or 2 days it would sit in the room.

I forgot to add that part..I never bring my mugs back because I am far too lazy. We usually fill them up a few times but then leave them in the room and consider them more as a souvenir. Since we are always on the DDP drinks come with our meals anyway.

I totally agree. I was just telling Jess that Pop isnt that expensive. Especially from the tap. We have looked into it actually here in the house because of the price. So I do think Disney is going overboard on this. It will cost more for those chips in EACH CUP than anything else. Watch the cup prices go up now... lol

We always get the mugs because they come with our dinning plan. It really depends on where we are staying as to how much we use them. We really only use them for coffee. I really doubt we would purchase them if they did not come with our dinning plan. We use to joke and say we were going to take all of our old ones with us on our next trip and sell them for $5 each. We were of course only kidding. We do have a lot of them around here though. Does any one else have quite a collection of them? Show us your picture of all of your resort mugs.

Good grief. These were exactly my thoughts. Seriously...how much money are they making off of these sodas, and how much abuse is cutting into the profits, to justify chip-implanted cups??

Never was I more happy to be a water drinker. Smile

I don't think we did! I was born and raised an hour and a half north of Pittsburgh - little town called Hermitage, right next to Sharon and right on the Ohio line. I went to Westminster College in New Wilmington for 2 years and then transferred over to Slippery Rock for my last 2 years.

Ah, see, sleep deprivation makes me repeat myself Smile Yes, I went to Bethany in the WV Panhandle, and spent the 4 years there vehemently answering every "yin" with a "y'all" wink

Oh, now I do remember this conversation! I can make no excuse for myself and the yins thing - I'm not sure how they ever got that out of anything close to y'all!

You know if we ever meet I will work yins into every sentence laugh

I was born in southwestern PA (about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh) and grew up in Punxsutawney.

We are from PA too. However, we are from the other side ofthe state near Philly. We do not say pop here. Most people here call it Coke even if it is Pepsi. We say you guys. We do not go quite as far as they do in Hollywood Studio with yos guys.

Haha! And I will get all Southern on ya! I'm actually from southern WV - I never knew how very, very different the southern and northern part of the state is. But the same can definitely be said for east/west PA too, from the folks I've known.

Incidentally, in Charleston, we are a mix of those who called it "pop" and those who called it all "coke." I was the latter, but got tired of the confusion, and at some point during my migratory 20s (college maybe?) I started saying soda. Oh, and "stockings" instead of "hose." But no one knows what pantyhose are these days....except I hear they're making a comeback.

Wow - this is so off topic. biggrin

Staying off topic...We are from Erie and I went to Edinboro. I said pop, but not y'ins. My mom warshes dishes though. I went to camp every summer near Hermitage, can't remember the name of it.

I've lived in New England for the last 16 years and have taken to saying soda. People just look at me funny if I say pop unless they are also transplants. When I'm home visiting my parents or with friends who are also from SW PA, I say pop. I am glad I can freely say pop here. LOL.

I refuse to change how I pronounce the word aunt.

Yes, it is. Since I can't be there for Groundhog Day I always watch the live webcast. I took pictures this year.

OMG how funny! I went to camp one summer - it was over near Mercer, but I can't remember the name of that either.

We used to go up to Erie for the Presque Isle Marathon (my Dad worked with a local running club). My niece is currently at Gannon.

And you knew this was coming....it's a small world after all! laugh

It took alot of thinking, but now I remember where I went - McKeever Environmental Learning Center! Back then it was in Mercer, and was a camp for kids. I looked it up now and it's closer to Sandy Lake and looks like it's not for kids anymore.
