The Disney "Surprise?"

I see a lot of people talking about surprising a spouse/kid/fiancee with a Disney trip. What do you guys think about this practice? I can see it with kids, but it seems like an awfully expensive item to surprise a spouse with. What do you think?

I would be equal parts thrilled and furious. I get your point. Smile Kiddoes are one thing. But I want to be in on the planning of a trip to anywhere.

I tried to plan one for Dave once to surprise him (back when we were dating and finances were separate). It didn't work..I got too excited and told him.

Surprise me!!!!! yay

Our first trip in 2001 was a complete surprise. Joe planned it all. At first I was just mildly excited - not having been to DIsney since 1971, and not really thinking it would be much fun - screaming kids everywhere....who needs that? But it was FL, and that was appealing enough.

That's when The Whole World changed. biggrin And now Joe would be surprised if we did something OTHER than Disney...

But I do tell him often that if he wants to surprise me with a trip, go crazy! I won't mind!

Some say I'm worse than a 2 year old.... silly

If my boyfriend ever chooses to surprise me with a trip to Disney, I definitely won't complain biggrin

Actually, since we go to Orlando in September and his birthday is at the end of June, I'm considering getting him a ticket to Islands of Adventure for his birthday since he would like to go and see WWOHP but says the ticket price is too expensive.

I just realised that was a bit of a swing off topic, sorry! When I thought it in my head it didn't sound off topic...oops.

There is no way Mrs T would ever complain if I surprised her with a Disney trip as long as she had enough time to pack, which can take her about a week sometimes (how do you fit a kitchen sink in a suitcase?). I on the otherhand would be happy with only 24 hours notice.

We're not terribly strict around here. Don't fret. Smile

As far as surprises we're both so busy we'd never be able to go without getting our calendars together and seeing when we could escape. Although if she did come home and say "I booked a trip, pack!" I'd probably work it out somehow. laugh

I think I would probably be upset from a financial standpoint if I got "surprised," but I think DW would just start packing like Tony said.

That's the sad part of being responsible isn't it.

I am with Jeff on this one. I can not think of one single surprise I would like more. I do agree it would be very hard to do with our schedules but as they say...NOTHING is impossible!

Haha - I am clearly in the minority Smile The thought is appealing..and if money were no object (and schedules for that matter) then sure. Suspend reality and ask me again Laughing out loud

If my boyfriend were to surprise me with an impromptu trip to Disney, I would probably die from shock (he isn't the type to plan things, usually.) I definitely wouldn't turn it down, though!

Honestly, if that were to happen I'd end up being the one to plan everything and surprise him. Now if only I could live in a perfect world where money/time was no object... laugh
