Hey guys! The highlights thus far:
I am staying at Jambo in a value studio. Smaller than a standard, but I am still overlooking part of a savannah (giraffes, my favorite)! The culinary tour of Boma and Jiko is only offered at 4 PM during their "slower" seasons according to the CM - it was not offered during my Thanksgiving trip. (But this is spring break....however, the crowds are really not bad. I think the big ones were last week). They open at 4 PM during busy seasons.
The tour! You get a little chatting about the decor and food selections, then you get a small bowl of soup! That day it was a vegetarian soup - soo good, and not too spicy for me. THEN you get a zebra dome!!! Both new foods for me! Then over to Jiko, a little decor chat, and a bread service app with those yummy dips! I liked these better than those at Sanaa - not as spicy for my taste.
So that was basically my dinner. And they say you can do this tour as many times as you want, so I will go back for a different soup. And more zebra domes and Jiko bread.
The weather is cool in the AM - glad I pack for that. The windbreaker I bought in November is perfect, lighter to carry than a hoodie, and warmer too. Worth the steep Disney price, because I love it and it has already been so useful.
Cruised around F&G to see some topiaries, and caught The Lovin Spoonful at Epcot. (Summer in the City, Do You Believe in Magic, etc). They were great. Did my favorite walk from Epcot to HS across the Boardwalk twice already. Happiness!!! Also chilled at Jambo by the pool in the sun. Will do a bit more of that this week.
This AM I hitting AK for a safari and Nemo. Later! Soooooo great to be back "home."
Fantastic start to the holiday!!!!
Sounds like a fun start to your trip.
Zebra Domes!!!! I'm jealous.
Hey, Doc, are you okay with shifting the Friday Aloha Isle meet-up back to 5:00?
Yay for another Disney Doc TR! I'm definitely adding that culinary tour to our list to do when we stay at AKL in Dec '15. It was free, right?

Do you have to stay at AKL to do the tour? Seems to me the answer is yes, but I may be thinking of something else there.

But Allie, they may not do it over Christmas. They did not have it Thanksgiving.
Aw darn! We're going during a "slow" Christmas week, so I'll still check for it but won't get my hopes up too high!
