Disneyland?

I know this site is called WDW for grown ups, but I thought I would throw this question out there since everyone here is always full of great ideas! I have a work conference scheduled in early September in LA and I've decided to stay a couple more days and visit Disneyland! This will be my first visit and a pretty quick one as I will probably arrive on Friday afternoon and will be leaving on Sunday. It's a little last minute, so I haven't done a ton of research yet, but I'm thinking of getting a 2 day ticket (not park hopper) and visiting CA Adventure on my first (half) day and spending the next full day at Disneyland. Sunday morning I will probably check out CA's version of Downtown Disney, and then I will be off! I am staying very close but offsite (for free...thank you IHG points!). Does anyone have any suggestions on restaurants or must-do attractions? Do you think I have my priorities straight with only spending half day at CA and the full day at DL? I will be going solo as well (another first time!) and am interested to hear if anyone has tips on exploring Disney solo as well.

Thanks in advance!! mickey

I would have suggested doing park hoppers just because the parks are pretty much across the street from each other, but if you're only 1.5 total days in the parks, I'd stick with basic tickets too, I think! And I would definitely do half day at DCA and the full day at DL.

Also I have no real suggestions because I've never been. So jealous that you're going, though!! Have a blast! yay

SOOOOO.....my advice is the opposite of what you've gotten so far. I would do the half day at DL and the full day at DCA, although to be honest, I'd splurge and get the park hopper and have the freedom to do both. If you've never done DL at all before, I think you should have the option and really, what's another $50 when you're paying Disney prices - says the girl who just booked a $1400 hotel room at POFQ, as my credit card weeps silently. The reason behind my thinking is that there are so many truly unique things about DCA that you don't want to give it short shrift. You may not want to ride Cars (or more truthfully, wait in line to ride Cars), but walking through and seeing ALL the details can be a little time consuming. Same with Paradise Pier, etc. Just my 2 cents! I spent 2 days at DCA and 2 half days at DL (I'd have done more, but I ended up with the flu). I will admit I'd been to DL 2x and never to DCA, so I felt like I needed to explore that more.

haha...thanks Allie! I think I will be there at the same time you are in WDW, so you shouldn't be TOO jealous Wink I'm excited to hear about your trip as well!

Oh my JMUDukz...this is exactly why I was questioning my original plan!! You've given me a lot to think about. At least I know that either way I will be at DISNEY, so maybe there is no wrong decision Smile

We just did this. We checked in Friday afternoon and left Sunday afternoon I opted for the hopper so we could do all our favs each day. The two parks are so close it really almost feels like wdw in scale. We loved the color of wonder show. After a 2 hour wait we were still left in aw. Really so many more things to do that aren't in Florida that not having the hopper option would have made me feel anxious about getting to experience it all. Ultimately it's disney you'll have a great time any way you decide. as far as food I suggest a late supper at the plaza and pick a table outside facing the castle about and hour before the fireworks, the chicken was great. You can have a nice seat, enjoy the show and after the fireworks you can walk back to the fantasmic show. I prefer this version over floridas.
