Do You Ever See Live Music?

When I was younger I used to go see live music all the time, both in clubs and at concerts. I haven't had the urge in years though. Do you ever go see music?

I love going to see live music! My husband and I have been to see Sting and Marc Cohn several times. We've seen Annie Lenox, Billy Idol, and Michael Buble'. We'll be in New Orleans in a few weeks and just last night I was looking for which jazz artists will be playing when we're there. We'll be headed to a local club (vs. a Bourbon street one) to see John Boutte, who has done guest spots on HBO's 'Treme" several times. I'm a HUGE jazz fan and I love to go any chance I get. Much to my dismay, I only get the chance a couple of times a year these days.

We have a symphony subscription - five concerts a year. We also occasionally see other musicians when they're in the area - we saw Yo Yo Ma at the Kennedy Center about a year ago and Joshua Bell in Pennsylvania a year or two before that. I haven't been to a club in nearly ten years, though. That was They Might Be Giants at a standing-room only venue in Baltimore, and I discovered that I am TOO DAMN OLD to stand in one place for several hours. My knees and back were killing me by the time it was over. Great show, though. They'll be back in Baltimore later this year, and I am sorely tempted to go even though I know I would pay dearly for the experience.

A couple of weekends ago we saw the Rock and Worship Roadshow. Its a Christian rock concert featuring 8 different groups. March 30 we are going to Winter Jam 2012. Its also features several Christian bands. These concerts are a lot of fun and quite the bargain at $10 at the door. Advanced tickets can't be bought so seating is on a first come basis. It's a great and affordable night out for my husband and me.

Not any more but in the late 60s and 70s we went to all the concerts. we were at Woodstock in 69, Palm Beach Music and Arts Festival in 70, Watkins Glen in 73 and then in 89 Jan and I, with all our kids and grand kids went to the 20th Woodstock, 3day reunion, at the original site in Bethel, NY. Can't begin to name all the groups we saw at 1 night concerts. I was young then. In my 40s.
Picture is me in the mid 70s.

Me and hubby used to go to alot more then we do know. We go to alot of Christian rock concerts cause like MicRac said you can't beat the price and the crowds. The one thing we hated about secular concerts is all the drunk and sometimes drugged out people

I hear you. That's one great thing about classical music - the audience members usually behave themselves. The worst thing I've seen is Great-Grandma needing a potty break in the middle of a concerto. And that just means she blocks your view while she meanders her way back to the loo.

That's a nice old Landy Joe.

I love live music and have seen a few big name bands over the years. The last 'band' I saw was the TSO when they did thier one and only UK gig.

The last major secular band we saw was Nickelback. After that... I said no more. Too many drunks. Smell of drugs everywhere. Just couldnt take it anymore. I am almost done seeing Bon Jovi... last time we went... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many drunk 50 sum women acting like they were teenagers. Anyways... yeah....... last concert we went to was Manafest and Disciple. I LOVE Disciple!!!!!!!

My husband and I also used to go all of the time but the only concert we see consistently every year is Jimmy Buffett. We do have tickets to see Radiohead next month but I'm not as excited as I should be!

My husband was in a band so I went to most of his gigs. It got to the point that it wasn't just the drunks that annoyed me. I mean now a days people are taking all sorts of crazy pills and drinking at the same time. It was getting somewhat a little scarey with some of the behaviour people were exhibiting. The last time we went to a live show was the gospel brunch at downtown disney last october. We talk about going to concerts but something always seems to turn us off. It has to be something really worth going to for us to buy tickets.
