TAXI CABS TO /FROM MAGIC KINGDOM

I am thinking that after a MK parade or the fireworks, it may be a challenge to get back to my Epcot resort using the bus system, especially during a time when the park is crowded. Would it be worth it to call a cab right before we are ready to leave? I read somewhere that the cabs cannot pull right up to the MK entrance - How far away would we have to walk? Does anyone have any experience with taking cabs to or from the Magic Kingdom (and/or Animal Kingdom), when you are staying at an Epcot resort? Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated : )

If i remember correctly all parks have a taxi line. At Epcot and at Hollywood Studios it was right by the bus terminals that go back to the resorts. We took cabs a few times and it was really easy. Check the home page of this site, there's an article about cabs on there. I believe in the power of taxis.

But I don't think there is a taxi line right at MK. Unless I missed it, the area where the Disney buses pull in are way too small to accommodate anything else. I'm guessing that the taxi line for MK is at the TTC. So one still has to take the monorail and battle the crowds.

My only recommendation is to walk to the Contemporary and try to call for a cab from there.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a taxi waiting at the Contemporary, there seems to be at every other resort.

hmmm...I wonder if by the time that you had to walk to the TTC or to the Contemporary, you might as well wait for the bus, but i don't know...thanks for your post!

good call Zz. Now that I think about it I don't recall seeing a taxi line at MK.

Even after all the time it would take you to walk to the Contemporary and catch a taxi, you would probably STILL save time versus taking the bus. ...taking the monorail to the TTC and then taking a taxi probably wouldn't save you much time however, as the crowd to get on the monorail or the boat is usually crazy long.

OK, maybe I'll catch a taxi from the Contemporary then - thank you : )

The best way to get a cab from the MK is to head towards the buses, and stay to the left hand path. You can walk past the bus lines and across the street to Bay Lake Tower. It's not a far walk, maybe an eighth of a mile. Bay Lake Tower is right past the bus lines. There the valet will be able to call you a cab. You can call for yourself, but I suggest you let the valet get you a cab. It will come faster and you can be sure that you're getting a Mears taxi and a good price. The only other place to get a cab from the MK is to take a boat or monorail back to the TTC and grab one there. BLT is a much faster option.

For grabbing a cab at Animal Kingdom you'll walk past the buses towards the parking lot. It's usually fairly easy to find the taxi stand. I take them all the time when we're in Disney and I love the ease of going right where I want to without making extra stops or having to wait in line an hour before we can even get on a bus.

Kristen,

How often is the valet at BLT on duty there? I've been there a few times where there's hardly anyone in the lobby, much less, a valet. I would think that at night this would be even worse.

Of course, by then, the lobby of the Contemporary is only a few steps away.

I'm not entirely sure. I've never had a problem, but then I'm only at MK maybe 2 or 3 days a year.
The main valet at the Contemporary is also very close.

I have also started to budget some cash for Taxi rides. They are quick and comfy and certain.

From MK, it is a short walk to the Contemp. for a taxi. Faster than getting to TTC. after fireworks. WAY faster.

Time is money when you travel. Saving it takes time, spending it can save time. So you walk from the train station to the hotel with your bag/pack to save the $$, but the walk takes 30 minutes and now you're hot and tired. Spend the $$ to get a quick ride and then get out on the town, see the sights.

AND a $20 taxi ride is a bargain when you simply cannot bear the thought of standing around in crowded bus lines, and/or being packed like mackerel on the bus for the 20 min (or longer) ride to the resort. After being on your feet all day. In the Florida sun. Or Rain. With the rest of humanity. Who are cranky and tired.

And if dinner is a nice affair, going to and coming from in a Taxi adds to the event. awesome You don't have to share that with a bus load of "tacky tourists" laugh who look at your nice clothes with a mix of curiosity, disdain, and a hint of fear.
