You can put a keyboard on an iPad if you want and they're getting more and more powerful. Do you think we'll ever just carry them around all the time like Star Trek and not have laptops or desktops anymore?

I think they have very far to go to replace them. I love mine bout I know people in technology that need the power that tablets just cannot give ATM

If they continue like this Pad... its a possibility. Im thinking of getting a couple of these bad boys when our office goes EMR.

I'd rather just keep to my phone. I've checked out ipads and they are cool but really I think they are just a bigger version of my iphone. I dont see the point.
As for tablets taking over computers....nah, I think phones have a better chance.

Nope. Way too many folks like and even need the screen real estate that a tablet just can't give. When they can provide the same utility that my dual 22" screens do, then we'll talk.

Ok... how about this. With Google TV, Windows Media Center... basically computers being hooked up to TV's now. Do you guys think that people will forget about the monitors now, and have the tv as there personal computer?
For me... I have a laptop hooked up to mine so I can watch YouTube video's and NHL GameCenter. Every once in a while ill surf on it, but I still prefer the monitor. Plus I like to surf the net, and watch tv at the same time. But I can see the average pc user switching to the TV.

I don't think so, that's why all the media centres like boxee and apple tv are doing well. I see more and more people outlawing lappys and computers in the living room and not allowed to hook up to the tv as the user gets sucked in and stops communicating with people in the room.

Umm..maybe eventually. I have an iPad and I LOVE it but I also do some work online and I always feel like I need my laptop for that.
