Everyone says that buying an AP makes them more likely to visit more than they would have otherwise -- is it true? Anyone have experience out there?

I have found that that is not the case for us. We get AP's because we can manage to to get four weeks of park visiting time in one calendar year and it is cheaper than buying length of stay park hoppers. Plus residing in NH we do not have the ability to just go on impulse for a day or a weekend.
I think it's kind of a mix. Generally we don't let our annual passes make us more likely to go, BUT I will say when you're considering a trip, the fact that your park tickets are already covered can be motivating.

Yes..because when we did they would always have those awesome hotel deals with the AP & then I could keep saying "oh well we have to go because we already have the passes"..
True. If you can remember to use the perks - discounts and such - they really come in handy. Being a local, of course it's easier for me to plan a day trip at least once a month. But I always keep a running tally in my head to make sure that the AP is paying for itself in the number of visits I make. Of course, the other AP upside for the local is the free parking. So factoring that in...it pays for itself pretty quickly.

This is always the trip I fall into...
