DTD - Yea or Nay?

Our long awaited trip is almost upon us! Our itinerary does not include a trip to DTD. Is it worth our while? Other than the Lego store is there anything there I cannot find in the parks? I'm not sure I want to spend half a day just to go to a couple of stores.

We like to hit up the World of Disney store and the Christmas Shoppe in DTD. But we always plan DTD trips around non-park days, like our arrival day (we usually get into Orlando towards the evening) or the morning of our departure day. There's also Earl of Sandwich, which I love. But if I don't have a lot of time, we might go during our mid-afternoon park break.

We also always have a car, so is not too time consuming for us to,get there. If I were relying on Disney transportation, I probably would not be as inclined to go.

While I love including a DTD day, it's usually the first casualty if we want to sleep in or don't feel like we have the time. You won't miss anything life shattering if you don't go, especially with all of the construction right now.

I do like to go at least once or twice per trip, but we often stay at SSR, so it's very convenient. The draws for me to go there are looking at the construction progress, Disney Christmas store, The Art of Disney store, Pin Traders, the Characters in Flight balloon (when it's operating), and grabbing a sandwich from Earl of Sandwich. Also, I've started a tradition of stopping at Once Upon a Toy to build a crazy Mr. Potato Head. I always have fun there and the views are really nice at some points, but if I was going on a short trip and I had to rely on a Disney bus to get there, I would readily skip it to get more park time!

I like to spend most of the night at the Adventurers Club. I catch at least one show at the Comedy Warehouse. If the mood strikes we'll have drinks and dance in 8Trax or Mannequins. And we never miss the countdown for New Years Eve.

I like going there at night for dinner with the wife.... a date within our vacation if you will. Catching a boat to DTD from one of the connected riverside resorts makes it even more romantic!

We always go to DTD for at least a few hours of shopping. We both enjoy just walking around and doing more window shopping than buying. However, if you are not a shopper or wanting to have a meal there, spending time there maybe a waste of your time.

If you care to leave your TARDIS inconspicuously parked for me - say near Raglan Road - I promise to take good care of her.

We haven't been our last two trips and, while I've missed it, it hasn't affected the trip too terribly much. We are DEFINITELY making a point on our next trip to go at least once, though.

It is always a must for us. It is tradition to visit the monorail resorts and DTD on our arrival night. We always make purchases from the Christmas store and the overall atmosphere is wonderful. I don't think much construction was going on last time we visited, but I would not wait in traffic for an hour or so to visit. I love it, but I would never waste precious time in traffic trying to get there.

I would go in the morning if you are not making a rope drop. The crowds are a lot smaller. Everything is open about 10 am. The bars will be later.

Thank you everyone for the info! I'm leaning towards skipping it unless we end having a resort day in which case I may make a pilgrimage to the Lego store.

It's a must for me, even I just grab a Ghiradellis or Earl of Sandwich and people watch, there's a great atmosphere, especially of a night. It's not AS good as it used to be what with all the building work going on, but it's still worth a wander IMO! I also braved Disney Quest this past trip for the first time in 10 years and ended up having a really great time with my brother!
