Eloise's First Trip to the World Trip Report

Okay, first off I want to apologise for never writing our last DLP trip report. A number of factors including problems with photo storage and finding the time made it tricky.

I'm going to keep this one simple and short. I'll try to update as we go and do a bit of a live trip report, to make the process less daunting. And I will try SUPER hard to keep my photos to a minimum though I know this is unlikely. So you all know who we are, right? Here's a quick run-down just in case.

We are Lauren, Bob and Eloise. Bob and I are married, and from Scotland. We have been to WDW a couple of times together. I went lots as a child, but Bob's first time was as an adult on our honeymoon. We also love Disneyland Paris, and we usually go there about once a year, as it's much cheaper for us than WDW. Eloise is our 14 month old daughter, and this is her first trip to WDW. She has been to DLP before, earlier in the year (see the photo above) and she absolutely loved it! This time around, we are staying at Pop Century resort for two whole weeks, and I'm super excited to get there! Here is a quick description of each of us and what we are looking forward to the most!

Lauren

This is me (cat ears for Halloween). I'm 31, and I'm from Glasgow, Scotland. I've got a degree and Masters in English Literature, and worked in libraries for years before leaving after having a baby to spend more time at home with my little one. Now I work weekends in a shop, and stay at home through the week to care for Eloise. This will probably change in future as I plan to go back to uni and train as an antenatal teacher! I'm vegan and always do a lot of research ahead of our trips to Disney to plan what we'll be eating! I have around 20 tattoos, including a few Disney ones like a Cinderella shoe with a mouse, a Belle pin-up, and one of Marie from Aristocats. I met Bob at University through the sci-fi and fantasy society, and we are both dedicated geeks! My Disney favourites are:

- Tangled, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog, Aristocats and Cinderella.
- Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Everest, Journey to Imagination and both Little Mermaid attractions.
- Margaritas from Mexico in Epcot, Tusker House buffet, Dole Whips and allergy friendly Mickey waffles.
- Epcot and Magic Kingdom.

Bob

This is Bob. He's 36 and from Edinburgh, Scotland, though we live in Glasgow together. He's got a Physics degree and works in an office. He's also vegan and has a few tattoos, though not as many as me! He loves Disney but not as intensely as I do, and he also loves Star Wars and Legend of Zelda. His Disney favourites include Hercules, Wreck it Ralph, Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, Star Tours, Hollywood Studios, and all the veggie burgers in the world.

Eloise

This is Eloise! She's 14 months old and loves Tangled, specifically Rapunzel. She also likes various UK kids TV shows like Teletubbies, playing with her dolls and her big red truck, and eating broccoli, toast, hummus, Quorn fishless fingers, yoghurt, and watermelon. She's vegetarian at the moment. Her favourite ride at Disneyland Paris is It's a Small World.

Our plans
3rd November: Flights at 11.35am from Glasgow. We'll try to tire Eloise out in the airport and bring lots of snacks and toys on the plane to keep her busy. When we arrive, we'll get the Magical Express to Pop Century. We've already done online check-in so we'll just pick up our Magic Bands, go to the room, settle in, and then grab a quick meal. Eloise will be very tired and cranky so I might just send Bob out to grab us some food before bed.

4th November: I have this scheduled in as a pool day, to let Eloise get used to being there, as we'll all be tired from travelling. At some point we may venture over to Art of Animation to try the new Beyond Meat veggie burger, but we have no firm plans other than swimming and exploring.

5th November: Full day at Magic Kingdom! Lunch at Be Our Guest (we've ordered in advance so this should be interesting) and then dinner later at the Crystal Palace. We have fastpasses for Peter Pan, 7 Dwarfs and Big Thunder Mountain (Obviously Bob and I will do rider swap on the big rides) and I'll try Eloise on some smaller rides.

6th November: We're heading to the Boardwalk in the morning for breakfast at Fresh at the Dolphin hotel. This will be nice as I've not been to the Boardwalk much before. After breakfast, we'll explore a bit and then head to Epcot. We have fastpasses for Spaceship Earth, Soarin and Nemo. I really hope Eloise is awake for Nemo! We may check out some of the vegan Food & Wine options and will probably have lunch at Sunshine Seasons.

7th November: We are headed to Hollywood Studios to do some attractions. We are planning to grab food at Pizzerizzo, and then have an ADR for Hollywood Brown Derby for dinner. Our fastpasses are Toy Story Mania, Star Tours and The Little Mermaid.

8th November: This is an Animal Kingdom day. We have fastpasses for Everest, Avatar and Disney Pals, and an ADR for dinner at Tusker House. We're planning to try Satu'li Canteen for lunch. Our plans are very flexible at this stage as we know they could change at any minute with a toddler!

9th November: We are having breakfast at Kona Cafe and then hoping to catch a bus to the Florida Mall to pick up some things and have a walk. Then we are headed to Epcot in the evening to meet some forumers!

10th November: We are going back to Epcot to do some more things. We have fastpasses for Frozen Ever After, Disney Pals and Mission Space (though I'll probably wuss out on Mission Space). We will probably be eating at Tangierine Cafe and Liberty Inn. I want to Disneybound as Daisy Duck and try to meet her!

11th November: We are heading to Disney Springs to do some shopping. We're planning lunch at Blaze Pizza, cupcakes at Erin McKenna, and then back to the resort in the evening.

12th November: We are finally headed back to Magic Kingdom! Fastpasses for Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion and Enchanted Tales with Belle. We are thinking lunch at Pecos Bills and are then headed to 1900 Park Fare for dinner.

13th November: We are going to Trattoria al Forno for breakfast, and then hopefully will head to the Crossroads shopping centre for a walk. We want to have lunch at Sweet Tomatoes buffet, and then chill at the resort.

14th November: This is another Epcot day. We are getting lunch at Biergarten, and then hopefully having a more quiet day.

15th November: We are headed back to Hollywood Studios, and have fastpasses for Tower of Terror, Frozen Musical and Rock 'n' Rollercoaster. Then we are off over to Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner at Boma.

16th November: Our last proper day will be spent at the Magic Kingdom meeting some characters. We have fastpasses for Rapunzel and Tiana, Tinker Bell and Ariel. We have no ADRs for this day.

17th November: We have most of the day to chill out around the resort and get packed, then we are flying back to the UK overnight (I'm not looking forward to this part!)

So that's it. Hopefully I'll manage to do some trip reporting, and fingers crossed our plans don't get too messed up with my wild toddler in tow. Tongue

OKAY. We are all back and had an amazing time. I didn't get a chance to update while I was away, but those who have got me on Facebook will have seen all the updates. Anyway, let's get the ball rolling!

Day 1: Travel Day
We had an early start, and got a taxi to the airport. The flight went pretty well. Eloise was really good on the plane. She mainly played with her toys, ate snacks and had a couple of naps. We walked her up and down the aisles when she got restless.

This was us excited to be boarded and on the plane! The vegan meal was gnocchi with vegetables, fruit crisps, and some kind of weird stuff that was like melted raspberry sorbet. It was pretty decent. Then we got a wrap with veggies and hummus later on. Eloise picked at some of our food but mainly ate her own snacks.

After we arrived in Orlando, baggage took aaaaaages. Eloise was getting really tired and cranky at this point as she'd been up for a million hours, but thankfully, we eventually got our cases and got on the Magical Express to Pop Century. We were really happy to be going to the first stop on the bus route! Eloise fell asleep on the bus. We checked in at what was basically the middle of the night British time. We checked into our room. They offered us the opportunity to opt out of housekeeping for $130 voucher, which we were quite happy to do because YAY DISNEY SPENDING MONEY. Our room was a preferred room in the 50s section, near Lady and the big bowling pin. It was a really convenient walk and we found it super easy to get back after a long day in the parks throughout the holiday.

Magic bands.

Eloise crashed out right away and Bob nipped out to get us some food from Everything Pop. He picked us up some marinara pasta and I ate it so fast because I was starving. Then it was straight to bed as everyone was exhausted.

Day 2:
We woke up really early - Eloise was five hours ahead so she woke up at about 4am Orlando time! Thankfully we convinced her to go back to sleep for a little while. Then we headed to Everything Pop for breakfast.

Bob and Eloise on the way to breakfast.

Our room was opposite this!

We paused for a photo in front of Lady, near our room.

We got some vegan Mickey waffles for breakfast. As we were waiting for the chef to make them up for us, I overheard a woman asking the server if they had anything vegan. The server looked confused, so I jumped in and told her that you could get Mickey waffles made up on request. It turned out that it was for her vegan teenage daughter, who was very thankful at the help offered. Eloise was starting to fuss a bit so I took her to get a table, but Bob assured me that the vegan teenager had spoken to an allergy chef and was getting fed, which was a relief to me! I'm so glad we do our research and can then help others. Anyway, we had our Mickey waffles. I'm pretty sure they've improved the recipe of the allergy waffles since last time! They were so good. I think Eloise ate some fruit and tried a bit of waffle. She wasn't eating very well as she was out of sorts from the time change.

After breakfast, we decided to go over to Art of Animation to relive our Honeymoon! On the way, we got a photo with Mowgli and Baloo.

Then we walked around AoA and took some pictures for old time's sake.

I recreated my 2013 photo with Prince Eric. It's neat to look at the two photos side by side and see how I've changed.

2013 Honeymoon Lauren.

We had a moment standing outside our old block in AoA. It was strange that the last time we'd been at this resort, we'd been on our honeymoon, and now we had a third person with us!

After that, we were getting a bit restless to explore, so we got on a bus to Disney Springs.

Eloise slept on Bob on the bus.

Disney Springs has changed so much since we were there in 2015!

Eloise at Disney Springs. We'd bought her a Minnie Mouse sunhat from the resort shop.

We made a beeline for Blaze Pizza for dinner, and oh god, it was so good.

Pizza with veggies and vegan cheese. It was so delicious, we went back again later on in the holiday.

We got some brownie cupcakes from Erin McKenna's for dessert.

Then we decided to head back to the resort and let Eloise splash around in the kids' pool.

She had a great time and was so happy! After we'd dried off, we went back to Art of Animation and got the Beyond Meat veggie burgers for dinner! They were so tasty.

At Hourglass Lake.

Eloise was exhausted after dinner so we caught a bit of The Princess and the Frog on the big screen, and then went back to the room for an early night.

Eloise crashed out early again but was then up half the night as she'd picked up a cold on the plane! Poor soul!

Day 3 Magic Kingdom to follow!

Day 3:
We were up super early again so chilled in the room for a while before heading to grab some breakfast. We got a quick breakfast - hummus and pretzels, fruit etc, then got the bus to Magic Kingdom.

At breakfast.

Sleeping on the bus.

When we got to MK, someone took a picture of us in front of the castle!

Then we caught the trolley show, which I love!

Then we happened to walk past Merida's meet and greet when the line was super short! I was so surprised as her line is always huge when I go past! Of course we went to meet her. Being Scottish, we were a little amused by her 'Scottish' accent, but she was super lovely and friendly and even Eloise liked her, despite not having a clue who she is yet!

I love how red Eloise's hair is in these pictures because it's totally like Merida's.

After Merida, we headed straight for Small World. Eloise liked it but she was getting tired and a little dazed from her cold.

She went for a nap after Small World, and Bob and I used our 7 Dwarfs Mine Train fastpasses in that time. When Eloise woke up, I took her down to the baby care centre to use the nursing lounge, which is utterly lovely, with big comfy rocking chairs, nice and dark and soothing for the little ones. We really liked that it gave Eloise a bit of chill-out time when she could have some milk and relax.

Soon after that, it was time for our Be Our Guest lunch! We'd ordered in advance so we just turned up and got seated. Bob had French Onion soup to start but I didn't take a picture. We both had the quinoa salad for main, which was nice, and then I followed it up with raspberry sorbet. Eloise got pasta marinara and broccoli but she mainly ate broccoli.

Yes, I did match my outfit to the stained glass window.

After that, we had a look around some shops on Main Street. I liked these Belle ears, but didn't end up buying them!

Then we caught the Festival of Fantasy Parade, one of my all-time favourite parades! We both took a bajillion parade pictures. Here are some of them.

Eloise liked the Ariel float!

Us watching the parade.

Once we'd watched the parade, we went to use our Peter Pan fastpasses, but Eloise was cranky on the ride, so we took her to the baby care centre for a break afterwards. Eloise wanted to stop for a while outside the baby care centre and look at the ducks. This is the thing about Disney with a young child. It's amazing at any age, but there is interest in different things. For example, I'd be less likely to pause and watch the ducks if I didn't have Eloise with me, but she loves the little details. We spent quite a while here. She also loves climbing on railings, so this area was a big hit!

We realised that Eloise was getting quite tired out, as it had been a busy day. We didn't really have time to go home before our dinner reservations, so we decided to head for a quiet attraction - Enchanted Tiki Room. This was a big hit with Eloise. She liked the fact it was cool and dark, and I was able to give her more of a feed up the back of the room. She also liked the colours.

We were almost late for our Big Thunder Mountain fastpasses after that, because I'd managed to get the time wrong, but we made it! By this point, Eloise had been ill and cranky for most of the day, so we went for dinner early at Crystal Palace, and got seated quite fast. The food wasn't great in our experience, to be honest. The chef made us up some vegan stuff, but it wasn't worth the cost. However, Eloise loved the characters, so it was worth it for that alone. Despite being very tired and cranky, she laughed very hard when she saw Piglet, and had a great time being tickled by Tigger. She kept trying to hold Eeyore's hand, which was sweet. After that, Eloise was too tired, so we skipped meeting Pooh and headed back to Pop, and straight to bed.

Really? That's so interesting! I know that for several years after Brave came out Disney was only recruiting Scottish girls for that roll in the Parks. They must have decided enough time had past that it was no longer a priority and loosened up the requirement.

haha maybe she just had a weird Scottish accent! I'm not sure! It definitely didn't sound like a real Scottish accent to me but maybe it's my ears!

Oh my gosh is she ever darling! Especially with the Crystal Palace characters! I know we talked about this a bit at our meet up, but it really is so amazing how many new things you notice and how much more you stop to enjoy the little things when bringing a young one. The most exciting things for them are the things that I normally skip over in my rush to get to all of the attractions. muchlove

Definitely agree with this! The ducks were a big highlight! And all of the water fountains! It was nice to see her getting caught up in things, even if it wasn't the type of things I'd usually bother about. She also liked that they had cartoons on in the baby care centres, and just generally walking about and looking at things/people watching! She had a great time, and she LOVED all of the characters. muchlove
