Engagement Celebration Meals?

If you haven't been following my threads as I'm planning this WDW for my girlfriend and I, we'll be in WDW, staying in AKL club lvl, next month. And I'll be proposing the first night.

Anyways, The 3rd night's dinner and 5th night's dinner both have "engagement celebrations" attached to them. I thought it'd be fun to get a little Disney magic sprinkled on top of each of those meals (Artist Point, and then Tutto Italia on the 5th night.)

My question is....what should I expect from food & wait staff as far as this "engagement celebration"? It's not like it's a birthday celebration and they'll send a lil cake out or something and sing happy birthday lol. What do they usually do?

Do any of you guys know any specific restaurants in WDW that really know how to do this sort of thing well? As far as our ADRs, we'll be having Boma the first night, Mama Melrose 2nd, Artist Point 3rd, Sanaa 4th, and Tutto Italia 5th. Not sure if that'd help at all lol.

Thanks!!

We had this tagged on our dining reservations when we went. Some places didn't do anything and others sprinkled confetti on our table or gave us a free dessert. The other just decorated our dessert plate to say congratulations. No crazy singing- don't worry. I think out of our 6 meals, 3 of them did something special like that.

I would say expect a free dessert that's got a personal message, they may print you out custom keepsake menus at Artists Point (because it's a signature restaurant) or sprinkle some confetti on the table. Nothing crazy, just a subtle acknowledgement of your event.

They don't go over board and don't go "expecting" anything. People get so disappointed when they do that and then don't get the "big free thing" from Disney. Then all they do is complain about Disney not giving them anything! The magic can be the littlest thing. Disney does it that way. It could be from confetti on the table to a free glass of champagne or a free dessert like Kristen said. It could be a song coming from the heart of a CM that brings a tear to your eye or a little girl from the next table giving you a Mickey Mouse sticker because she heard you just got engaged. It's not all about the "free stuff". You have to feel and believe in the Magic! stars . Just my opinion.

Pretty heavy opinion....and it means a lot. We won't have any expectations for free stuff or anything.

But do you think I should but engagement celebrations on more than 2 meals?

ChipNDaleFan just said that he got 3 outta 6. We have a couple character meal breakfasts too...should I put them on more?

Who should I speak to at the restaurant to make them most aware of our engagement (as if the 1.38 carat worth of diamonds on her finger isn't enough lol)

When we're celebrating something I have reservations make a note on every one of our ADRs, we tell the hotel, the concierge, everyone... because you never no when magic will appear. Just tell them all and be surprised if you do get something. As Mr. Hubs said, don't expect it... just enjoy your vacation Smile

Mr. Hub - very well said.

Disney is all about believing in the magic. That gave me goosebumps.

Very true- don't go expecting for things to happen. If they do the are often small and subtle- like a photopass photographer doing some extra fun shots she didn't do with others because she knows it's a special trip for you!

We're going to be there for our 1 year anniversary/late honeymoon trip and I noted this on all our reservations. We don't expect anything special to come out of it, but it's worth letting CMs know it's a special trip for you!
