Making ADRs before buying dining plan?

Is this something I can do? We have our room booked, but haven't gotten our tickets/dining plan added to the reservation yet. The 180 day mark is coming up and I want to be sure to get to all the places we want! Smile Am I able to do the online reservations before I have actually *bought* the dining plan?

You should be able to make ADRs with or without the dining plan. I believe all you need is your reservation # to make them.

yay

PS - Just make sure all the places you intend to go take the dining plan, else you'll have to pay for the meal out of pocket. And make sure you book the right ADRs to match the plan you intend to get as far as table service vs. counter/quick service credits.

You can make your ADRs without the dining plan.

However.... if you plan on making an ADR for any place that requires prepayment (Cinderella's Royal Table, Hoop-Dee-Review, Spirit of Aloha) you will be charged in full. If you have the dining plan, you check on the option that says "Use my dining plan to book pre-paid reservations". You'll still be asked for a credit card but this is to hold the reservation and if you don't show up and don't cancel, you will be charged.

Since you have your room reservation you can make ADR's for all reservation days with or without the dining plan at the first 180 day out. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

Awesome! Time to get some decisions made, then. Thanks!

What ADR's are you looking at booking? Me and DW made our ADR's for December a week ago.

We haven't really decided yet. We arrive January 11, so we've got a little bit of time. Anything you would recommend?

So far my favorite is Ohana at the Poly. A few others that I really enjoy are Raglan Road in DTD, Whispering Canyon at WL, Biergarten at Epcot, and San Angel Inn at Epcot.

Biergarten at Epcot is wonderful and has a very good variety for German food! I love German but don't eat pork, which can be limiting with the cuisine, and they have a surprising amount of chicken and vegetable options done up in the German style.

May I ask how you booked your room already? I've been trying to for weeks on the website but keep getting notifications that they are only accepting resort reservations through December 31st. We're going on January 6th.

You can book room only reservations 499 days in advance. You may have to call for the room. When the new rates are announced, you can change your reservation to include the package (park tickets and dining).

Yep, my mother in law is paying for the room, so she called and made the reservation for that in April. It's marathon weekend that we're going, so we wanted to make sure and get reservations early.

We've already made our ADR for December as well.... Can't wait to go! Going to try several places for the first time.... Tusker House, California Grill, Cape May, Raglan Road, Rose & Crown, Yachtsman Steakhouse and Boma to name just a few! Of course the favorites.... Kona Cafe, Whispering Canyon, Ohana. We're going to the Spirit of Aloha Show.. last time we've been there was in 2002. I got a lot of these new places from reading posts on this website.. thank you!

Thank you for the advice!

I booked our ADRs online a couple of weeks ago and never got prompted for our reservation number or anything like that, nor do we have a dining plan purchased. We also didn't book our vacation online either, we booked through our travel agent.....
