Extra Magic Hours..

Extra Magic Hours is an awesome idea..but for us..there are some drawbacks.

For example, I love night EMH's at Magic Kingdom. There are tons of rides open, the park is usually open REALLY late, the park is magical at night and the wait times are non-existent. Dave and I have done all of Fanstasyland in about an hour during night EMH's. But night EMH's at Epcot & DHS? Trainwreck. Too many people..not enough rides in my opinion. I remember we spent the day at Epcot once..we left and came back for night EMH's around 9 (I think the park was open til 12) and the place was a mess. Soarin' was a 2 hour wait and Test Track was even worse. Same thing with DHS. The side of the studios with Muppets & Streets of America was dead empty..but Hollywood Blvd was a mass of people. We went back to DHS the night after and it was completely dead. I've never done nighttime at AKL but I imagine it would be cool but still crowded.

Morning EMH's..I love 'em! We haven't ever been to WDW when we were morning people (we totally are now though) but when we have done them they have been awesome! Aside from it being really early I love having the park to myself!

How do you feel about Extra Magic Hours?

I never took advantage of EMH when I had a chance my first trip stay on property... I didn't find out about that till my second to last day (mid morning).... MK had morning hours and the following day AK had night hours my plane left mid afternoon Sad

I hope to take advantage of them this time... and I would be interested in hearing everyones comments. I have a odd work schedule (some days I'm up for work at 3am, other days I don't make it home till midnight) so both work for me.

We found the same thing - MK EMH are fantastic -- the park is big enough that it actually feels like you're there exclusively, though of course there are thousands of people still there.

Epcot and DHS were VERY crowded. I wonder if it's different at different times of the year though...?

I found in October PM EMH were terrific, didn't see anyone really anywhere.

Due to work, I have become a morning person, so we usually do the morning EMH. I love morning EMH, because of the show before rope drop, but it is usually very busy and doesn't really feel like you get a ton of rides out of the way.

I think next time we go, we will have to make it a point to try evening EMH, if nowhere else at Magic Kingdom.

I've been getting up earlier and earlier lately and I've totally become a morning EMH person. Primarily though it's because morning EMHs tend to be the best time to get all our heavy riding in. We'll usually hit each park in the morning, preferably during an EMH and get all our favorites in, usually a couple of times. Then everything else is gravy.

I will agree though that evening EMHs are much more interesting. It's fun to see the parks at night. We're particularly fond of Animal Kingdom EMHs.

I love the atmosphere of the parks at night so always try to go for evening EMH's. It's a great time to wander round the World Showcase as that bit isn't usually as busy.

We usually hit all the morning EMHs we can. We go at slightly busier times, so evening EMHs can get crowded. Morning ones allow us to see and do everything we want in that first hour, then the rest is "gravy" as Brad says.

I do like evening EMH, but I've found that crowds can be hit or miss. We usually skip Epcot EMH, because it's often packed in our experience. Maybe it's just because all we really want to ride is Soarin, and there are no fastpasses and a 1 hour line. Sad (We're spoiled, eh?)

This may be an odd question, but we booked our vacation for Sept. 2011. I was wondering if using the current EMH as a guideline of what they will be in 2011 is feasible or not. I like to make a general schedule . . . first day here, second day there . . and as we recently booked and are uber excited . . of course I want to do it now . .lol

If you use it according to day of the week not the number day it may be close.
Example, if there is an EMH at MK in the am on Monday September 13th, 2010 there will probably be an EMH at the MK in the am on Monday September 12th, 2011. There may be a few changes but typically that works.

This is good advice. Of course there's the party schedule as well, which may or may not be the same for next year. I think it's probably close enough to give you some idea, but I wouldn't make any firm plans based on it.

You can do as Bella suggests just to get an idea; but I would NOT use that for actual planning. I would say the chances of it being exactly the same are nearly zero, especially when there are special events. I looked at last year's EMH before this year's were out just to get an idea. When this years came out; they were completely different.

Exactly..this would not be set in stone by any means!
