Favorite and least favorite "lands" in all 4 parks

I've seen several different posts discussing everyone's favorite or least favorite park at Disney world. It got me wondering: What is your favorite and least favorite land or section in all 4 WDW parks. Where is the one spot you absolutely have to visit, every single trip, or it's just not a complete Disney world vacation. On the other hand, where is the one spot that you don't care if you ever see again, on any WDW vacation. For example, do you love adventureland or tomorrowland in MK but detest Dinoland U.S.A. in AK.

For me my absolute favorite section of park, in all 4 of the parks at WDW, is Main Street, U.S.A. Each and every time I step inside the Magic Kingdom and see that magnificent Castle, it is a wonderful experience. I can go to WDW sometimes and skip certain sections, and even entire parks, without feeling I've missed out on anything. But every visit for me MUST include seeing that magical Castle.

Now, my least favorite section of park is Dinoland U.S.A. in AK~yep, that's the reason I used it as the example laugh
I despise Dinoland. I think it looks like a run down, slightly creepy carnival. It in no way makes me feel like I'm at WDW, and it actually takes me out of the "bubble" to walk through that section. It's definitely my least favorite "land" in all the 4 parks.

I'm with you on Dinoland. The most I've ever done there is walk through and maybe stop for a drink or restroom break along the way. On our last trip I never set foot in that section at all; hubby may have walked through without me on his way to Everest, but that's it. IMO it's an incredible waste of WDW real estate. I cannot think of any other section in AK or any other WDW park where I have experienced none of the available attractions.

King Fergus

Good question..Had to think about this but I agree Dino in AK doesn't make me want to rush there..Come to think of it, I don't think we ever visited it while at AK on our last trip..And again I'am with you..My favourite park is MK and strolling up Main Street kinda takes my breath away..Seeing the castle again after our two year absence is like discovering that mountain in the film " Close encounters of the Third Kind."... It does exist.... yay

Dino land has a cheap sort of vibe IMO. I know it is supposed to be a carnival type place, but it just does not feel Disney to me. The Boardwalk does not feel like that to me - it seems more themed and much "classier." Just my perception.

I have to agree with all of you on Dinoland.. If they got rid of it I wouldn't be affected at all. As for favorite land I have to say World Showcase. Although Main Street is definitely a close second and no trip would feel the same without walking up and looking at the castle, World Showcase is by far my favorite place in Disney to just take a leisurely stroll and take in my surroundings. Plus during Food and Wine there is so much to do (and eat... and drink)!

Well, I wanted to be original, but I've got to go with DinoLand as my least favorite also. The theme is lost on me because I really couldn't care less about dinosaurs. Also, I agree that it is very "un-Disney" in its feeling and presentation. I could be persuaded to try Primeval Whirl, but I don't see anything else in the Din-o-rama area that is of any interest to me and once was enough on Dinosaur.

A favorite a little more difficult. Main Street is awesome, but I don't spend a huge amount of time there because there are no moving attractions. I'm a big fan of Liberty Square for all of the hidden symbolism, but I don't love the attractions there, so I can't really call is my favorite. I love the attractions in Fantasyland, but it's so unpleasant to be in that area when it's crowded and I still feel like Old Fantasyland and New Fantasyland are very disjointed. I love Toy Story, but I don't think it's enough to make Pixar Place my favorite. In terms of time, I probably spend the most time in World Showcase and it has a lot of diversity offering rides, movies, live performances, shopping, and FOOD, so I'll say that's my "favorite"

Favorite...must agree with world showcase too - it is just incredible. I also found myself enjoying HS around the hat or on Sunset blvd or the main road in - I like the vibe, and love Citizens of Hollywood. Public Works, and Mulch Sweat and Shears.

Oh boy my favorite is going to be maybe frontier land and my least sorry canada at Epcot cause it's kind of boring, or new tomorrowland....

Now I hate to be 'that guy' but I'm going to to have to (I know I don't have too but I still will) make two pionts here

1) the castle is not in or part of Main Street USA, it's in fantasyland and although it can be seen from Main Street you can actually see in while standing in any of lands, sorry I know it's pedantic.

2) Dino land USA gets a awful rap but is one of the greatest themed lands in all of disney history and has and amazing backstory, the level of theming that makes it feel so tacky is amazing, and it's in fact harder to make something look cheap than expensive. I would advise any disney parks can to read more about Chester and Hester as the backstory is a lot of fun. I often feel that Dino land USA is taken for granted because it's their at wdw and if it was part of Tokyo sea fans would be itching to go there. Maybe I just see it from a design perspective but from the fake road, to the tacky dinosaur garden the theming and feel is top notch when paired with the backstory.

Well, World Showcase is my favorite. As adults, we spend more time dining and strolling than any other area of any park.

I despise Dino Land. It's cheap and reminds me of a bad traveling fair. Backstory or not, it plain sucks. It cheapens that entire area. I've only walked through or by it trying to get to "Dinosaur".

Well Phil, it appears that Cinderella's Castle is both considered in Fantasyland and on Main Street, U.S.A., according to the official Disneyworld website. When looking at certain attractions, food or entertainment, it is listed as both. For example, Dream Along with Mickey and Celebrate the Magic are both listed as on Main Street, U.S.A., and they both occur RIGHT ON the Castle. However, CRT and the Castle itself, are both listed in Fantasyland. So, apparently Disneyworld considers the Castle to be so important it's considered to be in both locations.

As far as Dinoland is concerned, I agree with you that it seems to be intentionally over the top Tacky, and there are definitely places that can make that work. IMO Disney world isn't the place for "ironic tacky." If it were at Universal Orlando I would gladly throw on my ironic, hipster, mustache T-shirt and revel in the tackiness. BUT at WDW, they take great care NOT to be purposefully tacky. That's why it sticks out like a broken, sore thumb to me.

I love debating Disney though, so I'm glad there was at least one different perspective on Dinoland! awesome

Annie, I think you nailed it. Dinoland feels as if it belongs at Universal. It would fit right in there. Heck, put it in Hersheypark or most other non-Disney parks and it would seem awesome. But it seems totally out of place at WDW, even if they did intentionally design it exactly the way it is.

I have two favorites. My first is Adventureland at MK because that has a lot of my favorite rides. Second is Africa at AK. I love the shops and the safari ride. My least favorite would have to be Dinoland at AK. We usually skip that whole section of the park. No real reason to venture thru there.

Definitely Dinoland for me. I love dinosaurs and always have but it just doesn't fit with the park to me. I don't think any other park in WDW has a land I don't care for though. I adore Epcot (we always spend the bulk of our vacations there) and both HS and MK have at least one attraction I like in every area.

To be honest I have never ventured into Dinoland ever. I don't like dinosaurs so there is just no reason for me to ever go there. Now my favorite land/area is Epcot WS because you are given a taste of what the countries are about.

I think we are all in agreement about Dinoland, it is just too tacky for Disney. As far as favorites go i have to go with World Showcase. Where else in Disney can you get that much variety of alcohol and food (Spring Pancakes, thanks China).

I have to agree that Dinoland is probably not the best land. It seems...discombobulated. I'm not entirely sure what exactly they were looking for, theme-wise.

As for my favorite land, add another vote for World Showcase. The theming of all the pavilions really corresponds to the native countries. And I really like Adventureland, as well.

Dino land can really go tomorrow for me. Glad there is a bathroom but beyond that it doesn't do anything for me. I am excited for avatar to open in the hopes that AK can be more than a half day visit for me. We spend a ton of time in world showcase so that's the top of my favorites.

I kinda like Dinoland. It's fun and different.

Two favorites: World Showcase and Main Street
Least favorite: Future World East in Epcot

My favourite land is Fantasyland, or more specifically the Tangled area. Tangled is my favourite movie and I just love the new area even though it's just a rest area Smile I liked looking for the hidden Pascals too. We found 8 and I think I heard somewhere that there are 10 so we'll be back at it in October awesome
As for least favourite, I'd have to say pretty much anywhere at HS. Don't get me wrong, I still like the park, just less than everything else.
I actually don't mind Dinoland. We really only go there for Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl though. We never play the games or anything. I wouldn't be sad to see it go though. Since there is Africa, Asia and soon Avatar, I'd like to see it change to another "A" and become Antartica! I'm obsessed with penguins though so I'd love if they brought then to Disney muchlove

This is a really tough one! I don't think I can name my least favorite...it's been too long since I've been at AK or HS, so I feel harsh judging them! My 2 favorites are definitely similar to a lot that have been mentioned: Main Street USA and World Showcase. I can't think of Disney without thinking of Main Street USA and the feeling that I get walking down that street...well, you guys know what I'm talking about!! And World Showcase just has so many hidden areas to explore and delicious food/drinks to try that I tend to want to spend a ton of time there.

A runner up is the new Fantasyland. Beauty & the Beast and The Little Mermaid are 2 of my favorites and I grew up singing all of these songs and watching these movies over and over. The Little Mermaid queue is so well done, Be Our Guest is fabulous, and Belle's Village is a small area, but I just felt like I could hang out there for hours listening to the music and drinking a few Lefou's Brews mickey Once the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train opens, this area has the potential be ranked up there as one of my new faves!

I'm going to have to go on record and say that the disney website is wrong. The magic kingdom (well all the castle parks) are designed on a hub and spoke system as per walts request, which he first saw after visiting Washington DC. Main Street USA is designed to lead visitors up to the hub, which is a land or area of its own ( where the statue is) the spokes then lead out to the lands, the mout was the in visle portal to each land, from the hub you cross over the bridge to the castle that sits in fantasy land, it's quite a distance from the end of Main Street USA. In fact walt would be angered at disneyland when people said that the castle was in the plaza ( the old name for the hub) as the hub is meant to be nutral zone to decide which adventure you want to have.

As for dino land here is a link to the backstory http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/2009/08/chester_and_hesters_dinorama.html

The details and theming are simly amazing and some of the best imagineering work in the last 20 years, universal could not pull of dino land, just look at their crummy attempt at a carnival in Springfield.

I gave this a lot of thought. My favorite was easy. It is Main Street. However, it is really Main Street itself and not seeing the castle. The castle makes no sense to me. You would not see a castle at the end of Main Street USA! So in my mind, the Castle is the entrance to Fantasy Land.

While Dinoland itself does not do much for me, I am sure kids love it. I do not hate it but it does seem a little strange compared to the rest of the park. It is not my least favorite though.

My next thought for least favorite was WS. Once I really started thinking about it though I discovered that while I do not care for eating, drinking or shopping around the world, I do rather enjoy just walking around WS and taking in the sites.

So after much thought, my least favorite "land" is the area where TSM is. I like the ride although it does not make my top rides list. To me the outside of the building and whole area right there is just plain old boring. I think they could have done something more there.

Scrappy I 100 percent agree 'Pixar place' is 50 shades of lame. And when compared to the out side of TSM at disney sea, wdw really got a dud. Can a land really be one ride, a food cart and a meet and greet? The worst part is pizza planet isn't even in Pixar place. Why didn't they do it right? I mean it would break my heart but, remove muppets and make it a 3d incredible so show turn the street of America in to the town from monster inc, maybe add a ride as there is a sound stage behind the New York scene, honey is trunk the kids play zone could become a bugs life, mama Melrose could be the resturant in monster university, they could add mr fredrickson so house to the street of America, the stunt show could be more cars focused. Do something, do anything with the backlot tour, again this could be re skinned as an incredibles ride, picture going on a tour of the secret base and then it al goes wrong. And then muppets could re used as another Pixar show.

Then remove Indy and build Star Wars land behind start ours in to the empty land behind those two attractions.

I've done it I've saved hollywood studios!

Also I've had more thoughts, extend the animation tour, remove the little mermaid cause it's a little so, so these days, maybe stick in a live action muppet show, take out captin jack walk through, this in my mind could make a really cool frozen show, playhouse disney would become disney on stage, a journey through the golden age similar to animaquie in paris, a cool black light show taking you show steam boat willy up to jungle book, making that corner of the park including one mans dream a homage to disney animation and well the muppets, but what about replacing mermaid with a best of the princesses show, cause every one only wants to her part of their world anyway, I would love a show with all the princesses signing their big hit. Maybe the muppets could find a home at the beauty and the beast theatre maybe re themed to the Hollywood Greek bowl, and a show about the muppets making it in holly wood, big musical numbers from the films old and new with live muppets.

This could be done in phases and the park wouldn't even be hard to nag agate, first address the street of America area, then the animation court yard and then Star Wars.

I can imagine what to do with American idol but I like the idea of tying it in more with sci if dine in and the great movie ride. Even a campy make up and effects show like universal has would be better than American idol. Or just a how movies are made attraction. Or a fake sitcom filming to tie in abc. My only other change would be to re theme rock and roll coaster maybe it's time for Aerosmith to go..........

So you would be able to tick big boxes,
Pixar
Princess
Retro disney
Frozen
Star Wars
Muppets
Thrill rides
Musical shows.

Up date parts of fantasmic add a day time parade based on old and new disney movies both live action and animated and pow! It's the best park of the four a Mecca and celebration of what's great about the companies output.

I actually love Hollywood Studios right now, but even still, I can't spend more than 2 days out of an 11-day vacation here without the allure of "let's do it again!!" wearing off on even my favorite rides and attractions. The park that you've just built would capture my attention for half of my vacation. You're hired, sir. Start building immediately.

That would be as bad as the re-theming of DD over in WWOHP ...

Thank you, thank you,

Me ferret I'm just don't sure Aerosmith are relevant anymore, or maybe ever were. The idea of a high speed ride through holly wood still works but I feel an update is needed, maybe just a new band facing it. A band who have stood the test of time but younger crowds have heard of, all though I hate them the foo fighters could work

We skipped that section a couple times and then we decided just to walk around the area to really see it and were surprised to find the Dinosaur ride buried in the back. It was rough but we did enjoy it.

A band who have stood the test of time but younger crowds have heard of, all though I hate them the foo fighters could work

Dang i must be getting old ... my worry would be that they would turn it into the same as DLRP has ...
