Favorite Disney guide book?

I love planning vacations and being well prepared before hand so that I can have the funnest vacation possible and not be caught off guard.

I am a disney newbie and went for the first time last year. I bought "the unofficial guide to walt disney world" last time and read it cover to cover. It was very informative.

I felt well prepared but with Disney there is soooo much to know!

For all you disney experts....is there any guide books you find particularly good? I'm going again in 2012 and would like to get another book to help with my planning.

I love the Unofficial Guide, and I think it really is one of the best resources currently out there for the parks.

I really like the Imagineering Field Guide books (Here's a link for the one about the Magic Kingdom - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1423124685/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0786855533&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1M4FTEBR60YT05A6F1TA )

They give some extra insight/details to the backstory of different attractions, and little details that you might not notice right away.

It's not a book, but you should definitely check out the Disney Food Blog if you haven't already - I've gotten some good ideas of snacks/menu items to try based on their pictures and reviews: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/

I think a lot of people also enjoy the Hidden Mickey's Guide - http://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Mickeys-Disney-Worlds-Secrets/dp/1887140840/ref=pd_sim_b_10 - but it can be fun to just search for them on your own.

Also not a book, but if you have Netflix, search for Disney Parks, and they have a couple shows you available to Watch Instantly.

I have a few, but one of my newer favorites is The Complete Walt Disney World version. There's a few pics and discussions of this and others here:

As soon as the 2012 version comes out I'm getting it!

I'm going to join in and plug the Disney Food Blog...it really is a great tool for planning and discovering new must-eats! I know they have an e-book out (I'm sure you can get it on their website) that covers Disney World dining in great detail! And they just announced that they are going to be publishing some mini guides for Food and Wine, Snacks, etc. mickey

As far as actual books go I like the Unoffical Guide. In all my trips I've never found anything better--unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it they don't change much from year to year. You probably don't need to buy another one.

I like to find most of my stuff online. The DFB for food goodness and Allearsnet.com for resort info and pictures. They have menus but The DFB is much more indepth.

Great question! My two favorite guides are the Complete Walt Disney World. It's written in a very direct and concise way with great organization of information. And the photos are wonderful. My other favorite is Mousejunkies by Bill Burke. His writing style is descriptive, clever, and hilarious. His books contain many great details. I highly recommend both books.
