The Final Straw..

Wow..Good Morning Everyone..Just been reading people's anger about the current " Off Kilter " decision and some folk are actually cancelling their trips, others are giving up their DVC.. eek ..These comments are on other fan base web sites but it made me wonder, is there anything that would make you call it a day..I must admit I think the only thing that would make me think enough is enough, would be the price to jump up so much that I would consider another vacation..But I still believe that a WDW vacation is still good value for money ( I don't work for Disney ) The 14 day park hopper is great value considering all the attractions,shows,entertainment,etc...But what would you consider the final straw.?

Great question!

For me, I think that the quality would have to drop drastically. It would have to become "dirty" with poorly maintained hotel rooms and facilities, bad food, and nothing that interests me to do. That being said, over my lifetime of vacationing with Disney a significant decline in how all of those things are handled has happened, just not to the extent that it has stopped me from loving it.

I've read that before Kristen from old friends( in that old place ) where in bygone days things were better..Wow..Wish I had a time machine..Just returned from shopping and met a couple who this year gave Disney annual vacation a miss and went on a Caribbean cruise and everything went wrong from bad weather to upset stomachs and it cost them lots and lots more than their usual Disney trip..Needless to say their booking up to return to Disney next year...

I agree with Kristin that if the quality went down, I'd reconsider...but also the customer service!
I realized a large part of why I love Disney is the people who work there and how they strive
to make it the number one customer service oriented resort. awesome

I have to agree with both Kristen and Magic Mirror. Quality and customer service are what keep me going back. I've never been to a cleaner park with friendlier staff, anywhere. The only rudeness I've ever come across at Disney is from other guests, never CMs. CMs bend over backwards to make your vacation magical. I just love that!

If wdw turned in to pre 2014 disneyland paris, dirty, gross food, bad staff and bad maintain ace I wouldn't go back. Saying that we have dlp a second chance and it was great

I think I agree with Kristen, though to add to that the customer service, that's one of the main reasons we go back, it's always so top notch.

I have experienced poor customer service - once. And to be fair when I went to Guest Relations the next day to tell them about it I was MORE than amply compensated. So that was a wash in my head, yes a bad thing happened, but when the right people found out they made up for it in spades.

It would take a lot for me to say never again to WDW. I think in addition to a large amount of rude CMs and bad food quality, I would also add if prices became ridiculously high in just about everything, negligence in the hotels and in terms of rides, destroying my favorite and the iconic ones with lackluster replacements or worse, nothing at all.

There are several businesses that I no longer patronize, or never have and never will patronize. Usually it's because of corporate-wide discrimination in hiring or toward customers, unfair treatment of the workforce, or corporate activism in favor of ideas with which I seriously disagree. So I think Disney is pretty safe.

Yes I am very sad about Off Kilter leaving and yes I cried a little when I heard the news. I will tell you that I wrote a letter to Disney telling them about my sadness. However would this make me stop going to Disney...no. I would only stop as others have said if the park and hotels become dirty and the customer service goes down hill. As long as Disney retains it magic we will still go.

I agree with everyone. For me it's that thus far disney has always impressed me at the end of the trip. I see new things, I have great service, I learn something new. If at the end of a trip I don't feel this way then I'll book something else. With that said, I'm looking for much bigger changes at Epcot than who performs there. I want new countries and updated experiences. Empty buildings in future world are not impressive to me. And the capt eo tribute needs to go.

We go for all the thing mentioned above and we do like when new things are introduced. I am not sure why they close the popular ones, though. As many of you, I sent the email in regards to my disappointment about the shows closing and got a chirpy email back telling me all about the new shows. I simply replied that they were sending me a stock answer, not answering MY email. I would like to hear the new Celtic group in UK (next time for us as we are in Sept) and will grab all the Off Kilter CDs already not owned this time.
Don't they poll groups or something? I know Epcot could use a few "new" things" but just changing the performing groups?

Add another one to the quality of the park decreasing. I've been to a few theme parks in my lifetime and Disney is one of those that prides itself on being a cut above the rest and being the benchmark.

Over in the UK, where the weather is not as great as Florida, you expect things to be less colourful but no less clean than other places. Unfortunately, we have people who chew gum and consequently dispose of it on the floor instead of the bin just a few feet away or the even more unfathomable habit of spitting everywhere which I hate with a vengeance. I've also been on rides where the decor has been allowed to get tatty and this is also a no-no.

If Disney ever descended into the madness I see at UK parks, that would probably be it...no matter how much I love the attractions within the park. I go there to enjoy a moment of family safety and fun, a place that is safe regardless of how many people there are. I don't go to watch people spitting or throwing trash or gum on the floor.

Every time Disney does something ridiculous like closing PI or down-sizing Epcot, I rant and rave. Then I go on my next vacation, have a great time, come back and buy more DVC points. I still love it, but I reserve the right to bash management when they are off course. I refuse to be a fan boy and applaud every move they make.

I'm pissed about the Epcot entertainment changes. And I'm still sore about PI and the AC. And I sense a shift towards making everything "extra" and giving the minimum with your park admission. But they would have to really decline in some major way to put me off.

I am really looking forward to AK opening at night, and new lands in DHS. And I'm hopeful that they will cater more towards the adult crowd, with evening entertainment, dining and drinking.

Half the rides in Epcot are dated or lame. Half the buildings in Future World are empty. But they choose to refresh the very popular and beloved entertainment of WS. Really, what they are refreshing is the best thing in WS. It just doesn't make sense, to me anyway.

Potentially, the main thing that may stop me visiting is nothing to do with WDW. It's the cost of crossing the Atlantic ocean. Flight prices, particularly during school holidays - the only time I can visit atm, could prevent me from visiting again at least for a few years. Once both daughters have left school, assuming I can get a non-education based job, then hopefully I may be able to afford off-season flight prices but no way of knowing what flights will cost in a few years. May have to resort to visiting DLP.

You've hit it on the head..To me it's a safe haven where all the family can enjoy various activities, and the cast members do their utmost to make sure you enjoy your time there..I've been to a couple of theme parks in the UK and they did nothing for me..Maybe I'am just spoiled by the magic that only Disney can provide...Long may the magic last...

I totally agree, the flight prices just keep going up and up. Even off-season the prices are still steep and it is rare now to find a bargain. That is one of the reasons that stops me from considering DVC, imagine having lots of lovely DVC points and not being able to afford the flights to use them at WDW!

Miss Mikki, I know what you mean, but this year will be our first time booking our vacation separate from flights ( All our past five trips were booked thro a travel company and were a package ) I started checking flights only from Scotland eek With various companies it was around PS3000 for three of us, then I got a e-Mail from Virgin about their January sale..One way from Glasgow to Orlando..PS717... and from Manchester..PS279...Needles to say we are flying from Manchester..

I've managed to find cheap flights with a stopover but these are at funky times - presumably the flight times that the main haulers don't want, but for under PS600 return (to a London airport). I've found in recent times that indirect flights are often a lot cheaper than direct flights and with comparable times - if you go to somewhere like Flight Centre.

But in principal, at least, I do agree that the flights are getting more and more expensive and the security now is getting tighter and tighter which makes going over harder and harder.

Last trip we also started doing our own flight shopping and found airlines that only book online and so a TA can't get them. We watched closely and booked great rates last January for a Sept trip. We have paid as much as $300 round trip per person PLUS luggage, but this time it's $150/person, with free luggage.

Of course you have to live on the computer waiting for the moment to lock in and there are no changes without it costing.
