First trip to Disney without the kids!

Hi All,

This is my first time here and OUR first trip to Disney World in December. We've been for the past 4 years with our children. I am a SAHM to our 8, 5 and 19 month old kids.

We are so excited yay ! We're going for my husbands 40th birthday and are staying at the Polynesian. Which we've never stayed at before. My kids love AKL and WL. So we usually stay there.

I just wanted to come here and share because we still haven't gotten used to the idea and are a little nervous our kids will find out....lol. We've made some dinning reservations and started planning out parks strategies....lol.

Only 113 days!

Kris

Oh and we got a PIN code for 35% of room rates! Woohoo! We hope to get a bounce back rate while we're down there so we can book our family trip for April 2012 clapping .

Welcome and oh...that sounds like a little slice of heaven! We snuck off for a kid free trip a few years ago, and it was fantastic! I'm a firm believer in the occasional kid-free trip...helps you to be an even better parent, imo. And why shouldn't you get to go and experience it by yourselves? Can't wait to hear all about it!

Any special dinner reservations or other special plans? Also, welcome your hubby to the 40s club too. Seems to be a popular way to spend your 40th! I'm local, and part of my 40th celebration was Food and Wine the first part of the month, and Candlelight Processional a little later on! (I believe in celebrating bdays for a looonggg time. Especially mine. mickey )

Thanks for the welcome!

We've booked dinning so far at Kona Cafe and Tokyo Dining. We can't decide what else to book. Dining is booking up fast...lol.

Does anyone know if Magic Kingdom has a late entry ticket price? Our flight doesn't get in until 1:45 so that would put us at the hotel around 2:30 or 3, depending on how the Magical express is running that day. I just don't want to buy hoppers and waste an entire day ticket on a late entry kwim?

Thanks for your insight!

As far as I know they do night have a late entry price. A day ticket is a day ticket. But you can add to what you have and it should be cheaper. Last year friends added to there tickets and it was 3 dollars for another day! Buy they had already had 5 day parkhoppers.

I don't believe so. I've never heard of late entry prices, with the exception of the Epcot After 4 pass for FL residents. You have a valid point...although if you happen to get in on a day when one of the parks have Extra Magic Hours, it might work out okay. Otherwise, maybe that's a good day to explore resorts, Downtown Disney, etc.

Thanks!

For those of you familar with the Polynesian, in case we can't upgrade our room when we check in, what would be the best building to stay in with a Garden View?

I am so excited! We just paid the balance this morning and are buying our park tickets today. Dh gets a 12% discount through his company yay

Congrats! You're going to have such a fun time! My husband and I just started traveling without the kids about two years ago and I think it's the best thing that we've done for ourselves! Disney is a whole new place when you don't have to worry about the little ones underfoot. Smile

Picking a building for you would be hard. Everyone likes different buildings for different reasons. We have stayed in several different buildings and I loved all of them for different reasons. I think you will be fine no matter where you end up.

Welcome! This is a great article WDWFG posted a few months ago on what to do on your arrival and departure days: http://www.wdwforgrownups.com/articles/what-do-arrival-and-departure-days-disney-world

And like someone else said adding an extra day onto your ticket might be less than you think! mickey

Welcome. I'm trying the Kona Cafe for this first time this year. The more days on your park pass, the cheaper it is per day. It may be worth it to add an extra day on to your ticket for the day your arrive. I recently added an 8th day for my trip and it cost $5.32.
