crossfingers Olaf arriving tomorrow I hope! crossfingers Oh by the way, you have the advantage. Mail service to our town is crazy slow from some places. Of course it's better now. It really slowed down the week that the lady in this article put the car in drive instead of reverse and drove through the wall! Oops.

I am a guy.....not sure how I feel about that either. All I know is that my DS2 and his gf asked for stuffed Olaf and Sven's from our upcoming trip.

Interesting tidbit: I played the Oscar performance of Idena Menzel doing an excerpt from Frozen for a choir class The kids were to watch her breathing and how open she gets her mouth. They were amazed but then one 6th grader asked if they could see the singer from the movie. She INSISTED that wasn't it. So I called up the short Disney clip to show her but they do sound different. Sooooo, I looked up the question and here is the explanation: "Ms Menzel is a mature woman with a powerful mature voice, so the lower overtones of her voice were lightened to give a slightly younger singer's voice."

Okay......

That's like having someone else singing for her. I wish they wouldn't do things like that. If they wanted the voice of Elsa to be younger then they should have had someone younger sing it.

Some have pointed out that it's more so to do with her technique and how she's constantly straining when it comes to her live performances. Browsing through some of the comments I've read online, here's one that stood out:

"Her problem is that she pulls up on her chest voice. When you do that too much, your throat muscles up, and then you can't relax enough to sustain the high notes. Now, chest pulling may be fine for when you are in a recording studio, but it is certainly no way to sing live night after night."

Add on the lack of rehearsal time, time constraints, the musical score being somewhat faster than normal and even the improper introduction were all the ingredients of a subpar performance. But it's not just Let It Go exclusively. Compare the soundtrack version of Defying Gravity and her performances during the Tonys and/or her appearance on the Late Show with Letterman and you'll definitely hear differences.

Anyway, I'm surprised no one has posted this already. The Voices of Liberty performing Let It Go.

Thanks jw24 for that video. I love acapella groups and I love to sing acapella. That was a great rendition of "Let It Go." I have listened to it 3 times already.

Idena Menzel is a well-established Broadway stage performer (Wicked)and tours as well ( I saw her live about three years ago) Both my husband and I have advance music degrees and what she does WELL and what we show the young singers is that she has incredible breathing ability in addition to the space between her back teeth when she goes up. This allow her power that many don't enjoy. Some think this is stretching her chest voice, when in reality she is often moving freely from one to another. That is why she rarely has any vocal issues. She is in her 40's and does not miss performances because of vocal issues, nor has she suffered from vocal distress (nodes etc) She admitted in an interview, post Oscars, that she had never done the piece live before, only a recording for the movie. She does not use the song in tour either. The Tonite Show, I think you are referring to, is also not in the same key. My husband plunked some keys and she is a full step lower.

I agree with another comment, if they wanted a younger voice there are plenty of them out there. One of the fun Youtube's out there is all the 25 languages being recorded. My husband said that if they languages weren't changing the similarity in voices is amazing.

Nope not yet. I don't think they've charged me for him.

I watched an interview with Idina and she said that she was in a good mood when she recorded the song for the movie and that she chose a weird key to sing it in that she can't easily sing all the time.

I got an email yesterday that he shipped. Maybe because I contacted them to make sure that my order was received. I put it in right around when we were leaving for Disney and getting my new Olaf was exciting, but not as exciting as our trip, so I was afraid I missed a step when I ordered or something. So many Olafs should be making their way all across the country at this very moment!!

Looks like both Disneyland and Disney World are having the same problems with their Frozen meet and greets. I'm surprised this forum hasn't had a topic about that. I've heard ever since Anna and Elsa moved to the MK, wait times are 4-6 hours in standby almost every day. By the looks of it, it's FP+ or bust. And now with the new mine train soon to be open, I want to think it'll help but my conscience says no chance.

Meeting Anna and Elsa is on our #1 must must must do list. So I hope that a good Fast Pass+ system will be worked out by the time we go in October. Any news on if/where they will be appearing at MNSSHP?
