Goofy's Candy Company -- What do you order?

I love that menu thread in the dining section, so here's one for Goofy's Candy Company. What would YOU order?

Off the top of my head, I'll go with a peanut butter fudge cookie coated in milk chocolate, then drizzled with white chocolate.

Pretzel Rod, Milk Chocolate, and chopped peanuts. Can't beat the salty/sweet! I've never been to Goofy's, but I have to make a run looks like!

On a somewhat related topic, we made homemade peanut butter ice cream last night and topped it with chocolate syrup, homemade whipped cream, and a bit of caramel sauce. Was deerishus.

DEERISHUS! laugh Do you have the recipe for the pb ice cream? Love that stuff (and pb fudge). I'm also a huge fan of homemade whipped cream.

Was just peanut butter (you could use fresh nut butter or even nuts, but we didn't), milk or cream, sugar, and ice. Depending on what you use to make it, you may have to adjust the recipe. We used our Vita-mix and it took, maybe, ten seconds.

Sounds like fun! Is it still warm where you are? We're starting to get chilly over here!

It's nice here; mid seventies. Rained yesterday, but still very pretty.

Vita-mix is the Rolls Royce of blenders. I don't go for gimmicks, and I don't buy things at a premium price unless there is a very good reason. In this case, there is. This thing is amazing. We use it constantly. The blades spin so fast, it can actually cook soup! You put in fresh, raw ingredients, blend them, and they come out piping hot and ready to eat. It's incredible to be able to make a fresh, from scratch soup in five or ten minutes (including prep time). If you've ever wondered how they get some soups in restaurants so velvety smooth; this is how. They use these in tons of restaurant, coffee, and smoothie chains. You can see them on Martha Stewart, Top Chef, and many other cooking shows. It's not because of clever marketing or slick lawyers; it's because it's the best. While not right for everyone, given the price, it's well worth it for us. We use it two or three times a day, every day. We make juices, smoothies, soups, desserts, salsas, you name it. Now, most blenders can do these things. This one just does them much better, and MUCH faster. That and it's the last blender you'll have to buy for a long, long time.

p.s. DW said the ice cream took closer to a minute...I was way off.

confused If the Vita-Mix makes things hot, how did you make ice cream in it in a minute?

It would melt the ice and boil the liquid eventually, but it crushes the ice so quickly there's no time for significant heat to be generated. There is no heating element or anything like that, it results from friction (240mph = plenty of friction). They explain it this way:

"Q: How can the same machine cook soups AND freeze ice cream?

A:
High-speed blade action is the secret to friction cooking and making
frozen treats in the Vita-Mix machine! For frozen treats, the
high-performance hammermill and cutting blades crush frozen ingredients
and release coldness. Vita-Mix processing is so fast, there is no time
for melting and the mixture refreezes itself. For cooking soups, the
blade speed builds a friction heat that can bring fresh ingredients to
boiling in 4-6 minutes. "

I'll start a new thread so as not to further hijack this one. Sorry biggrin

I wonder if a caramel apple would be better with, or without dipping. Plus I'm going to go find out more in the VitaMix thread because I'm fascinated.

I've been there once. I got a caramel apple and they cut it up for me so that I could actually eat it without getting all messy!
