Grand Floridian

What are your thoughts on the Grand Floridian resort? This is my dream resort. I love everything "Victorian". This is such a beautiful resort but very pricey. Have always wanted to stay here but has never been in the budget. Do they ever run discounts on this resort?

Poppet - I love, love, love the GF. It doesn't get its due from the Disney fan community, imo....I'm not sure why exactly that is.

I remember when it was built...I was completely enthralled with Victorian everything at that point! The first time I got to see it was on my senior trip...my then boyfriend and I hopped the monorail and walked around, dreaming of the day we might come back and stay there. We've since walked around it many times, especially during the holidays. Love the giant gingerbread house!!

GF is also my mom's favorite, so last year, for her 60th, we got a room for one night (we're local.) We ended up being upgraded to club. I can't remember the exact figure, but I know we paid considerably less than $300. Now, mind you, we're FL residents, and Annual Passholders, and I believe this was an AP deal. It was early February. But it was fantastic. The room was beautiful, and so was the view onto the pool. The easy access to Magic Kingdom was also fantastic. We had tea while we were there as well, and enjoyed it so much, that we're trying to make it an annual "girls day" tradition.

We loved it loved it, and would stay there again in a heartbeat if I ever could afford it.

Well once they build the DVC resort there you'll be able to rent points from an owner and stay there much cheaper than Disney rates just like you can at the other Disney DVC/Hotel combo places. awesome

We've never tried that before, renting points. Great idea!

I had always dreamed of staying at the Grand Floridian and finally got to in May when I went to a conference. Honestly, it was even more magical than I could have ever imagined. I try not to pick favorites, because every Disney Resort has it's own special flavor, but I am completely in love with the Grand Floridian. It's simply enchanting, it's Grand and romantic, just breathtaking.

I'm really praying that the construction going on right now is indeed a new DVC Resort, because if it is I will be snatching up points to book there at the 11 month window!

There's often deals and discounts, just check with your TA to see what's available when you'll be there Smile
