We're heading to Asheville, NC for a long weekend. Rented a cabin in the woods and taking the dogs. I will pretend I am at Fort Wilderness laugh

Have a great birthday weekend! I noticed you said you'll be traveling with your dogs. Have you ever heard of Savage River Lodge in Maryland? Its an awesome place to take your dogs. They have 18 luxury cabins in the woods and are surrounded by 800 acres of state game lands with lots of hiking trails. We take our Willow there at least once a year. She loves it. They deliver freshly baked muffins to your door every moring and they include homemade dog biscuits as well. They also have a killer lodge with a phenomenal restaurant. Its one of my most favorite dog friendly places. Check it out.

I HEART Asheville! It's so wonderful there..it's such a cool town to be smack in the middle of the bible belt! Kind of like a different planet.

Happy Birthday on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Thanks everyone! We had a great time in Asheville - a nice reminder to take some time to enjoy nature and each other mickey

Below are a few pics of the birthday loots from Joe! The first surprise was a D23 Membership!

I haven't figured all the benefits out yet, but I got a very cool magazine:

And a cool watch!

This may end my "I don't wear watches" streak! laugh

I also got 2 new additions to my Jim Shore collection (I had 1 and always admire them when we are at Disney, but never buy them). The first is this fun Mickey with Birthday balloons:

And the second is a Snowman (or mouse!) Mickey:

Since it was a birthday present , I *have* to leave it out for a little bit...and it looks so lonely as the only Christmas item, so I think it needs some friends.

When Joe is not looking, I will slowly start getting out other Christmas things. Mwuahahahaha!

I'll post some pics of Asheville in another non-Disney thread in a bit. It was really pretty in the mountains.

birthday Happy Happy Bday, Jeff! I'm extending it by a day with my tardiness!

Love the cool presents, and that's so neat about the D23 membership! What thoughtful gifts.

We enjoy Asheville, too. - so pretty. One of these days, I WILL stay at the Grove Park Inn.

Jeff, I agree!!!
Your cute little snowman is lonely. He is so very lonely. He needs at least one little friend to keep him company.

I am pleased to report he has a new friend!

While Joe was busy in the baking aisle at Costco this morning, I slipped this into the cart! Mwuahahahaha! And he didn't see it until it got rung up at check-out! SCORE!

Thank you, Costco, for having Christmas stuffs out in September!

He should be happy I decided not to also get the 48-inch plush Mickey for $38.99....I think I showed alot of restraint.

Love it! Sometimes showing great restraint stinks. I say if he is still there the next time you go that means it was meant to be and he will NEED to go home with you.

Hope I don't get tracked down by Joe for this: Jeff , we were at a place called Peddler's Village in Lahaska PA. today. It's a small shopping village and has all specialty shops and nick nack shops and such. Got a glimpse of these!

Jeff, DW went shopping yesterday at Kmart/Sears Essentials store (Don't know if you have them around your neck of the woods) and this is just a sample of what she found in the already up Christmas decorations section. The middle photo are sidewalk and driveway marker stakes, and this is just a small sample of the photos she took of the for sale decorations.

**DROOL**

GAH!! we don't have the Kmart/Sears Essentials here!! I'll have to check the local Kmart and see if by chance they have anything like this. They are usually really good for my after-Christmas sales for Disney stuff.

Those driveway/sidewalk markers are awesome!!

Thanks DW for taking pics and thanks VL for posting!! I was snuggly warm in my Mickey Christmas flannel sheets last night - haha!
