I was curious. It's supposed to open in 2009, are any of you pumped up about it?

It's not going to be open before you guys get there is it?

I wonder how much they're going to put in there for the book lovers. I know if Disney did it there would be TONS of little touches, but who knows with Universal?
Here's an FAQ page from Universal's Harry Potter website. Click around for gallery photos, an email updates sign-up form, etc.
It opens in 2010.
Awesome site! I really am excited (and now getting the email updates, yes indeed)

Nope, it won't be..but I will be going in 2011 most likely. I hope they have a ton of little things.
This really feels like a chance for Universal to have something "beloved" that WDW doesn't have. I hope they don't screw it up!

That's a good point. This will be a serious "destination" for Potter addicts and might make Universal the "reason" for going instead of the secondary activity.

Well here's an interesting development: a Harry Potter Wizarding World fan site has already sprug up--complete with pictures of construction:

They're going to regret being "fans" if it turns out to be lame.
I think I saw on a Harry Potter fan site that JK Rowling has finally say on everything concerning this park. If that is the case, I don't think Universal can screw this up.
Let's remember it all started with a mouse

That's encouraging. Universal should have to get a "chaperon" before they bulid anything.
This is the last of spam this morning. All have been reported.
Just wanted to say a couple of words about this: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is everything that people say it is. The attention to detail is terrific, the rides are fun, and it's just so very cool to be wandering the streets of Hogsmeade with a butterbeer. There was a Harry Potter Convention going on while I was there, so it was a little too crowded, BUT lots of guests had purchased wizarding robes and Gryffindor scarves they were wearing around the parks, which just added to the atmosphere. The only actors I spotted were Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick) and David Bradley (Filch), and I didn't get photos of them. There was always a huge crowd wherever an actor appeared, and everyone was taller than me, so it was hard to see what was going on.
WWOHP is definitely worth a day trip if you're in Orlando anyway, though I have to admit that I wasn't very impressed with the Universal parks overall. They're "Disney-lite" as far as I'm concerned. But then, I'm not really into rollercoasters and wet rides, and that's mostly what they have. I stayed onsite at Universal so that I could get into the parks an hour early (because I was afraid of the lines with the convention going on), and that helped, but I'd stand in line for 30 minutes or more for the Forbidden Journey. In my humble opinion: Do not use the single rider line for this one, or you'll miss out on a LOT of very cool details in the castle that really add to the experience.

Gray, we were there at the same as you and you are certainly correct about the WWOHP being very crowded due to that "convention".
Yeah, that's pretty much what my photos look like, too. You were there at the same time? OMG, I wonder if we walked right by each other without knowing it? I would've loved to have met you in person!

We went last year and it was definitely very crowded. We didn't get to do as much as we wanted but it was nice to walk through.
