Has Pin Trading Become Passe?

I didn't notice many people wearing lanyards and pin trading on my last trip. I've never been a big pin trader, collecting the ones I like was always more my thing. Are people still trading? Have MagicBands dealt a blow to lanyards? What are you thoughts on this?

I know I have really cut back on trading. I rarely wear a lanyard any more - too bulky and clunky and I always seem to lose pins (and don't care for the locking backs) so I just carry a few in my pocket just in case I see something on a CM. But otherwise I just but a few that I like every year and add to the collection.

I don't feel the MagicBand had any influence on that though....and I still love seeing other people with their lanyards on.

We noticed it didn't seem as big this last trip too. We carry our lanyard in our backpack. I also noticed a lot of the boards have the same pins so we hardly found any we wanted to trade for.

I don't wear mine either, just too heavy. I still love to look at pins CMs are wearing and always wish I had some on me but I would go Jeff's route and throw some in my pocket.

Pin trading is still kicking. Many people are keeping their lanyards in their bags and not wearing them as much anymore.

What I'm hearing then is that it's the lanyards that are really past their prime.
