Have you done Jiko?

I'll admit that Jiko is probably my number one must do restaurant at Walt Disney World.

Needless to say I hope to be finding a way to go there (without my child) on our next trip. Has anyone here ever been? What was your favorite dish? Would you recommend going there?

Oh Heavens YES. I mentioned to my very Disney dining-savvy friend that I hadn't been to Jiko - that I had actually never set foot in AKL - and that settled it. Off we went for dinner.

It was amazing. The decor. The service. The food. All top notch.

When I went, I had a nice green salad, the lion's share of a flat bread that was fan-freakin'-tastic, the shortrib with a fabulous tamarind-cabernet glaze and truffled mashed potatoes, and a dessert that I was too full to eat and therefore can't remember. I also had a glass of Chocolate Block, a red wine that perfectly complemented the entree (it was a blend.) My friend had the butternut squash soup (also fabulous - I snuck a taste), and the filet and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious.

Of all the things we ate and drank that night, I'd say that the flat bread - with flank steak and arugula - was my standout favorite. I want to take DH back there for a date night and just have that, and maybe another app or two, with drinks. It truly was one of those dishes that you can't stop thinking about.

I want to say it's either because there wasn't anything there we thought we would like... Or is it possibly two dining credits?

Loved the Jiko short ribs!! Next May, we are planning on trying the 3-4 PM Jiko Wine Tasting and staying for dinner.

The food and service at Jiko were excellent. And it was actually pretty kid friendly. Dawn, our server, was wonderful to our almost four year old son. He is a bit of a foodie, like us, but he doesn't like normal kid food such as mac and cheese. Weird, I know. She talked him into eating the macaroni by telling him it was Mickey's own special recipe. He loved it and she gave him the recipe. It was our favorite restaurant during our trip in March.

Jiko is one of my most favorite restaurants of all time, anywhere.

It is great.

Never been. I am not sure I would like it based on the menu I have seen. Seems too "fancy" for my taste. Maybe I'm wrong.

That's good to hear! I don't think we'd try it this trip. My DS can be a bit of a nightmare in restaurants (he's almost 2) but maybe by the next trip he'll be able to handle it.
