Have You Ever Closed Your Eyes or Looked to the Side on Mission: Space?

In the fastpass thread, we were talking about M:S and I was wondering, has anyone ever disobeyed the rules and closed their eyes or looked to the side? If so what was the effect?

I've never dared! (Always too scared I'm going to be an unlucky one and have to use the air sickness bags.)

My eyes were getting dried once so I tried to re-wet them, but then I realized what I was doing and stopped immediately! I swear they blow air on your face to make you close your eyes!

eek

On my first "real" ride, the blast off started to make me feel a little dizzy. I closed my eyes for about two seconds and realized that made it worse! But the dizziness passed almost immediately. Thankfully!!!

Somebody explain this question to me. What is the deal about looking to the side?

Disney recommends that you don't close your eyes and that you don't look to the side, but rather keep your eyes open and straight ahead, to reduce the chances of motion sickness.

Gotcha! As a kid I could pretty much ride anything. As an adult I've had an ever increasing inability to ride certain rides, particularly those that do loops or turn me upside down.

Even something like Tower of Terror, which does neither gave me some anxious moments last time I rode it.

I thought maybe taking a Dramamine before riding something might help, so I tried that a while back at New York New York in Vegas. I took one before riding their roller coaster which loops and rolls. Got off it only semi-ill and proceeded to go to my room and fall asleep.

Oh well, thats why I miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

(Funny thing though, Space Mountain doesn't phase me a bit.)

On my first ride, I thought I'd tempt fate and swivel my eyes a little bit. Dumb idea, but a quick recovery.

I haven't quite learned my lesson on the teacups however.

I would LOVE to do the teacups, however if I did you'd have to bury me....AFTER the mess was cleaned up.

Did them when I was younger. I didn't develop my "ride condition" until later. Not gonna do 'em NOW!

Does that preclude you from RnRC, MT?

I haven't ridden it, as I understand it flips or rolls you.

C'est la vie.

laugh Teacups is one of those rides I can only do once, but it's so much fun I can't deny myself. I have great memories of riding a tilt-a-whirl with my dad at a local amusement park in my youth and have loved spinny things ever since.
