Hello from Cali and Disneyland

Hi there I am Dani, a Californian in love with anything Disney muchlove! I have been to Disneyland probably 20+ times, we usually go every mothers day and sometimes for Halloween. I have been to Disney World once in 2009 and when we went it rained the day we got there and the day we left so pretty good weather all around. I will be going to celebrate my 21st birthday in June for 8 nights seven days at the Art of Animation hotel, and I already have an agenda kind of typed up, but was wondering if there are any must dos. My best friend is wanting to go to a club in Downtown Disney and we are wondering if there are any suggestions on which to visit. I have been visiting this website for about a month and finally decided to join. Thank you in advance for all the suggestions! bighug

welcome We're glad you decided to join in! Your trip sounds like a lot of fun. Have you considered booking any ADRs (advanced dining reservations)? There are so many great places to eat in WDW!

Hi Dani! Nice for you to join us!

Hrmm, I'm not sure that I would say Downtown Disney currently has "clubs" but there are a couple of fun bars. House of Blues or Raglan Road is probably where I would head. For a "club" atmosphere I'd probably head to the Boardwalk and hit Atlantic Dance Hall or JellyRolls. Jelly Rolls is a dueling piano bar, so it's going to be similar to the bar at Ralph Brennan's at Disneyland.

Hi Dani and welcome!

Like Kristen said, Downtown Disney is going through a bit of a transformation and the old club scene that made up Pleasure Island is pretty much gone.

If you are into rides, I'd make sure to hit up Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom, Rock n Roller Coaster at Holywood Studios, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at MK. Oh, and Test Track at Epcot.

What did you think of WDW after having gone to DL so much?

Hi I am new too so it is probably weird of me to say Welcome but "WELCOME!" clapping

I agree about DtD, especially now that they are going to change the whole thing anyway! ( mad no Adventurers Club). I think Jellyrolls is the way to go at the Boardwalk for a club pick!

Welcome, Dani!

There are so many fun things to see and do at WDW...you will likely still be adding to your agenda up until the day you leave!

Kristen's right.... Raglan Road is super fun, and the music is great!

What is Disneyland like during Mother's Day? Super crowded?

Disneyland is actually not that bad on mothers day, best thing to do is go straight to pirates and Indiana jones then just walk around you don't get the school of fish feeling til about lunch

welcome

I grew up at Disneyland! We go back every couple of years. I am originally from Cali, transplanted to Atlanta. I am always so tricked by the outdoor queues now. I am so used to WDW and if you see the line outside, it is too long to stand in. All the queues are outside at DL, so all the lines appear to be way longer than they are!

As far as must do's, I also might stress making reservations (ADR's)

I think a great experience is taking the monorail to the Polynesian resort and watching the water pageant and Wishes from that beach, followed by a great meal at Ohana. Even if you don't finish it up with a meal, the Poly is a great resort to explore.

On that note, so are all of the Monorail resorts. I love taking time to explore all of the Monorail resorts.

Hit MK at rope drop, head straight to Enchanted Tales with Belle, quickly. The wait time will jump almost right away.

If you are looking to do Toy Story at Hollywood Studios (which I realize that you may pass up due to DCA) hit DHS at rope drop and either get in line or get your fast pass, or both.

Same thing with Soarin at EPCOT, I know DCA has Soarin, but the line at Soarin at EPCOT will get long quick, and fastpasses will be gone early.

Hey!! Happy (early belated!! yay ) 21st Birthday!! If you're looking to dance, the Atlantic Dance Hall is pretty fun!! It wasn't crowded when we were there, but there were lots of people dancing! You'll have fun no matter where you end up!
