Figured its time

I figured its time to introduce myself. I love this site. It's been so helpful ( even fr the kids!). I'm Donna. I live in manhattan with the hubby and 2 girls age 7 and 4. I'm a pediatric occupational therapist. Here are some recent shots that made every planning moment worthwhile!

Welcome, Donna!

And I have an odd question: Why do children need occupational therapy? They don't have jobs yet, do they? Or is it called occupational therapy because that's what you call it for adults, but for kids it's more centered on school?

Thank you for asking the question in my head!

Occupational therapy is teaching skills needed to be productive in your "job". A child's job is to be a student, playmate. We work with kids with autism, learning disabilities, physical limitations..We say skills for the job of living. Adults might need OT to learn to get dressed after a stroke or hip surgery. We focus on the skills o daily living. It's a rehab profession. Want to know more?
