Hello, my name is Riley and I'm a Disneyoholic....

I finally had this realization the other day....Im a full blown Disney addict...I spend hours a day looking at Disney websites, planning my vacation, and just reading Disney news...It's gotten bad enough that it annoys those around me...

But to them I say good day! Cuz theres a lot worse things to be addicted to right?! laugh

There's so many facets of Disney it's easy to spend a ton of time on it. Just the parks can eat up all your time.

Tell bf it isn't about micro planning, it is about creating an inner eye that sees the little things great memories are made of.

Obsessive planning and OCD control of a plan can ruin the good times, but in all your "lurking" and reading, you are becoming your own sort of database. Out of that comes "disney sense," a mysterious ability that includes knowing what some would call useless tips and tricks, bits and pieces that can suddenly make a big difference, as well as a psuedo-psychic ability to see and at times even predict the magic as it unfolds in front of you. mickey

my partner says I have maps in my head . . . And I do. And all the minutia I have stored has been invaluable in picking paths to take, times to eat, and finding little things that have made us smile.

All thanks to the wonderful generosity of all those who post on the web, publish guides, and want everyone to have a great time.

My name is Ollie, and I am a Disneyholic, too. yay

Haha thanks Ollie for making my day! And I agree with you completely. And I'm sure as we get closer to our trip my bf will embrace the planning. Oh and welcome to the disneyholic group! Haha

Hello. My name is Jeff, and I am a Disneyholic.

**Everybody now: Hi Jeff!**

I'm with Ollie - the knowledge will really come in handy if you need to figure out alternative plans on the fly. And you won't waste time looking at each other saying "What do you want to do?" "I dunno, what do YOU want to do?". You will now be able to say with confidence "We will go do this now!"

I also agree with Ollie to not have rigid plan for every hour of every day. You will set yourself up for disappointment. Keep some flexibility. Despite my obnoxious spreadsheet, the only firm plans I have are which park we will start with each day and what time I want to be there for rope drop. From lunch on is usually really flexible.

I do have to say that my partner is 100% responsible for my addiction. It was *his* idea to take me to Disney World in 2001. I had no interest and never even thought about it. Who knew this would be the outcome?! So there.....

YES! Excellent note, JoAnn! I think I need to point this out to him. And then go to disneystore.com....

I believe that was the first and last Disney vacation he planned...The Abominable Jeff took over shortly thereafter.

Haha well while I'm a disneyholic I'm not an obsessive planner. Just an obsessive researcher haha! I actually only plan what park we are going to and where we are eating...

That would be me, too. I just like knowing what to look for, the things others have enjoyed - or not - and if you REALLY want to know . . . I like the hunt, the research, finding the next cool thing, the latest great story. Keeps the Magic alive between trips. And adds to the magic when we go.

Take this board's obsession with food. . . I have picked up great ideas here and haved LOLed over posts. I also know that some of the obsessions I don't FULLY share. Scandalous, I know, but zebra domes. . . I like them OK, but wouldn't go out of my way for them. Even in all my times staying at AKL, I've only had them twice. Same with the Tonga Toast. I know. . . I can see some of your faces . . .

BUT I've also learned about cupcakes and can't wait to do the cupcake crawl. And breakfasts. . . My favorite meal. . .and there are so many good places to try! Just knowing the options - and having a place to bounce ideas and ask questions - is awesome. Helps the trip be about the FUN, and not about guessing and being disappointed.

Time is money, and WDW isn't cheap. Research has saved me money, frustration, and heartache. And I've made new friends, if they will still have me, knowing that zebra domes and tonga toast are backseat treats for me. . . crossfingers

Thank you, Vettelover, for your compassion.
Now I do LOVE dole whips, if that helps me back in the 'good graces' of the zebra dome faction . . . laugh

Haha - everyone has their things, Ollie. You're still ahead of me because I have yet to try the Zebra Dome and/or the Tonga Toast!

Good grief, all this talk of food is killing me! 74 days out and I am obsessed with what we will eat. I can't stop thinking about it!

And last night I had a dream that they completely redid the queue for Rock N Roller Coaster. After the brief show, the new queue area was more like an open air patio, and you were seated at a table based on the first letter of your last name. It took forever to get on the ride because there was now only 1 car. And somehow they incorporated kids on scooters and surf boards. eek

You see why Joe worries....or just ignores me when I tell him these things.

I was at a museum with my daughter yesterday and passed a Dad with a sweatshirt on, beneath I could just see a monorail t-shirt. I gasped, and told him how much I loved the shirt, then turned to my daughter and said "I'm such a dork" shaking my head at myself.

The mother turned around and said to me "It's okay, we're big earheads." LOL! First of all I love that she called herself and "earhead" laugh

But secondly, it took everything I had not to gush at her "Disney is my life!" and drop into that obsession. Disney is my life, I'm not quite sure how it happened, but it sure is fun!

I'm also an excessive planner and researcher, it fills my days in between trips with joy. My family just shakes their heads.

Our first Disney trip was unplanned - never again! We wasted tons of time trying to find stuff, figuring out where to eat and then discovering that we couldn't get in without an ADR, and wondering what to do next. A well-planned Disney trip is MUCH mor enjoyable.
