Help please! :)

Hey everyone! So we've just started planning our second vacation to WDW. I was sad that I missed to Christmas decorations last year, we left the morning of Nov 1st. We were thinking of going the last week of October and the first week of November. I heard the first week of November is Jersey week? Is it crazy then? We're trying to lock down a time to go well before our 180 mark so we can have everything planned out. If not then, when would be the best time to go but still be able to see the Christmas decorations?

Also, if anyone has had multiple parties on one trip, how did you guys plan it? For example, how did you make dining reservations? Can one room make a reservation for four even though there are only two guests under that room number? If my parents opt out of free dining if it is available then, we were going to get a room for them using my husbands military discount. So, we'd have two rooms, I'm not really sure how to do that either. The helpful person on the phone at Disney said I'd just have to give their names and address. I was also wondering about the photopass+, can my parents take photos of just the two of them if we lend them our photopass+ card or is that a no no. Is it rude for one party to take multiple pictures? Sorry for the onslaught of questions :/

Thank you for any help Smile

Hi Mushi, and this is what we are all here for so never be sorry for asking questions. We have been finding the week after Thanksgiving a pretty good week lately. People just getting over the holiday and going home so the parks are pretty low crowd wise and all the Christmas decorations are up.

Yes one person can make reservations for everyone. All parties do not have to be on the same or on any dining plan. I made reservations this last trip and added KenJ & JanJ to them and they were not traveling with us. You don't need to to add names though to make the reservations for dining.

If one person is buying MemoryMaker yes you can share it with the parents. Just have them get a photopass card of their own from a photopass photographer and have them use that during the trip. When your done, just add their card to your MemoryMaker and their photos will be added. Then you can download them, share them, e- mail them, what ever. I just did this with Ken & Jan. The only ones they would not be able to do this way is attraction photos. You should ask though because I'm not sure if MemoryMaker can be connected to more then one band or not. I know they told me ours was connected to my band only.

And no, take as many picture as you can to make it worth getting.

Mark

P.S. Just checked and it can only be connected to one person in your travel party at a time and you cannot reassign it once you download a picture. You can look at your picture, just don't download until you get home. Now if your parents go on a ride and you don't, but they want the picture you can either be there and put it on your band, or make sure they get the number of the picture and then go to a MemoryMaker spot like the one on Main Street in HS and have them download it to your account. I know this can be done. I was also checking my picture when we got home and I was missing all our ride photos and I called the help line and they were able to find all the missing photos within 10 minutes. Having the numbers of the photo helps also so if you can take a screen shot of the picture on a cell phone or camera, that's a good backup.

It sounds like you are going for two weeks? Do you want just the Christmas decorations at MK, or are you wanting to see the decorations at the other parks and resorts? The only park that will definitely be decorated during the two weeks that you mentioned would be MK. The others will have a few things up and the resorts are decorated bit by bit until about the week before Thanksgiving. Two years ago, we left POP on November 12th and they were just putting up the decorations that morning. If you want the full effect, then follow Mrhubs advice and go the week after Thanksgiving...no crowds and all the festivities.

We had several photopass+ cards when we took a big family trip that year. Each family had their own card and had photos taken as they toured, as well as had ride/attraction photos added to the cards. I took all the passes home and entered them in the website. Made selections for special framing, etc... and then placed the order for the disc(Drunk. It worked out great!

Thanks so much you guys! We hadn't thought about after Thanksgiving! Smile And yes, I was hoping to get all the Christmas decorations. That's super great to know that only MK will have them during that time frame. Also, we only had one photopass card the last time we went. I was so paranoid about losing it that we took photos of it on both of our cell phones and the camera we brought, lol. Can we ask for more than one since there will be the four of us? We're hoping for two weeks. I'm just trying to convince my parents that we won't be bored or stressed when we are there and that there are tons of things to do. My dad hates being rushed and crowds so, really, we're trying to convince him that it'll be a great vacation. yay

Regarding the photopass, to get any discount, you have to purchase in advance and like I said, it is attached to one persons band and you can't get the cd anymore. Everything is digital download.

Oh no Sad I loved the security of the photopass cd. I'm one of those extra cautious people who back up the back ups and then back it up one more time....and then keep the actual. Puzzled We'll be sure to purchase it in advance again though Smile we like to keep the ride photos and stop by every photopass person. biggrin

I've been playing with my MemoryMaker and it works pretty good. You can still add all the different frames and such ( although I think they cut back on the amount). Like I said try to snap a picture of your ride photos on the screen with the number just for backup. We had some great Photopass photographers this past trip. They still may change the way MemoryMaker works and what you get.

Make sure you purchase MemoryMaker more than 3 days before your trip. They advise and picture taken within 3 days of purchase have to be purchased separately.

Don't know why they say this, but don't take any chances.
