So 17 days to go until I arrive at AKL!! I'm so excited! I've been watching the weather though and it's been a bit rainy. Where do you go when the afternoon showers start?

Easy..DHS ..Just singing and dancing in the rain...
Poncho for me and umbrella or hat for DH than off to the parks unless it's a horrible downpour. If it is really bad we go to downtown Disney and go to a movie or Disney Quest.
If I'm already at the park and it starts to downpour, I'll usually just stay because the lines get shorter and the park empties out.
Unless it's planning to rain heavily all day (in which case I may hit DisneyQuest, Splitsville, or the AMC Theather), I just toss on a poncho and go to the park! I prefer Future World at EPCOT or DHS in the rain because I spend relatively less time outdoors at these locations.

"All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day, not above them but part of them.
And out there living in the sun, give me one day out there, all I ask is one to hold forever. Out there where they all live unaware, what I'd give, what I'd dare, just to live one day out there."
Since I'm going in September which is notoriously rainy and hurricane weather, this is a legit concern for me but I think I'll be fine just throwing on a poncho and hopping back on the rides. I just don't need significant severe weather, but I'm not the wicked witch of the west. I won't melt in water.
You guys are hardcore! My California family balks at the idea of rain. Is there a specific place in the parks you duck into for the sudden shower?
Run from ride to ride, that what we did this last trip
As we usually go in June we count on at least a little rain each day! Oh well a rainy day at Disney is better than any day at work so we keep on going. In one of our back packs are a few dollar store umbrellas and ponchos. The best thing is we wave good-bye to the faint of heart and enjoy much shorter lines. Have a magical time.
August 2016 here we come!
I'm with everyone else, I take advantage of the shorter lines! I don't mind a little rain!

We usually go in September and it has only down poured once to the point that we stayed at our hotel and relaxed at the bar with drinks and snacks. Otherwise it is mostly just a short sprinkle and nothing to worry about. The lines do get much shorter which is great. Buy a poncho at home if you can it is much cheaper than buying them in the parks.
Put on those ponchos and just keep going! One time we got so soaked! Our jeans were wet all the way up our legs! Just went back to the room and changed when it stopped raining! If it is warm and raining, plastic sandals are better than wet tennis shoes!
Not a lover of the poncho's somehow i end up wetter than if i don't wear one.Being hardy souls we just motor on and deal with it.
@93boomer JEANS in Florida Its 7 deg over here and blowing up a storm and you still wouldn't get me in grown up pants ...

Last time it happened to me, I just jumped into Philharmonic as it didn't involve a line as such and it was indoors almost immediately. I didn't fare so well when I was at Millennium Mall though...after watching it rain for 10 minutes, I figured I should just make a run for the car as it was less than 100m away...pretty much soaked and there was enough ground water to suck the croc off my foot! haha!
And I agree with Mrferret...sacrilege to wear a poncho or jeans in Florida!
Do what the kids do after being soaked at Casey Jr's steam works...go buy loads of Disney labelled clothes and be a walking billboard for the afternoon!
Yes, that's me in the profile pic...kudos for guessing the movie...
There are plenty of places to duck and cover, and there are plenty of people who do. For example, in Liberty Square, the lobby of Liberty Tree Tavern gets pretty crowded. I agree with most of the others though. I've been known to not even bother with a poncho or umbrella and just get soaked knowing the sun will be back to dry me off. While little short of a lightening storm stops me, my advice is if it isn't to heavy just keep going. It won't take too long to dry off, and most Florida storms last around ten minutes anyway (though they often return ten minutes later).
Well, two trips in 2012 and 2013 in May and it NEVER rained a drop while there....but other times I've been in the world we usually just run from ride to ride or shop in the stores in whatever park we are in!

We stay and enjoy the almost empty park. We've discovered some 'treasures' during rain showers...such as watching a glass-blowing demonstration on Main Street, the phone in the hat shop off Main Street, as we ran from Tony's to shelter.
Ok another question then. For those of you with ecvs how do you protect them?

If you are talking about the rain and elements, a rain poncho should cover it adequately.

They usually give you one poncho with it, but they didn't our last trip so I would recommend bringing some extra ones along with you just incase.
Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever been caught in a Disney Downpour in forty years of visiting. So, my number is surely up! I'm packing ponchos!

This is me... under a tree...during one of the daily downpours while were were there in September '13. It kept me perfectly dry.
When we were back in January this year, I laughed because it's hard to "be-leaf" that this is the same tree that sheltered me during that rainstorm.
Does anyone know what kind of trees these are by chance?
