Can't wait to hear about your first stay at the Polynesian!
We're here!
I posted about an expected problem: The Monorail Is Closed
But we knew that before we got here so we're not too disappointed. I love all the things I loved about it as a visitor, but the crowds combined with missing transportation are kind of bringing me down. The room is great, I'm going to post my pictures soon but I love the decor.
So here's another minor gripe and I'm curious to hear you guys' opinion. So we love the Grand Californian in Disneyland, but one thing that always peeved me there is that the A/C turns off when it senses you aren't there. This makes great sense for people who are gone for all day, but for those of us who pop in and out it doesn't save any energy and it makes the room hot. Is this ever a problem for anyone else?
Other than those two problems it's great here. It's all the charm of the Wilderness Lodge or the Animal Kingdom Lodge, with (usually) much easier access to the Magic Kingdom & the Monorail.
That really does stink about the monorail being closed. That was one of my favorite parts about staying at the Contemporary last October. We split our time between the MK and Epcot, so we never used any other form of transportation on that trip. I'm sure you'll still have a blast. The poly is gorgeous. Can't wait to see your pictures. Are you going to try the sushi at the Kona Cafe?

That's a good question. I'm on my own for lunch tomorrow, but I don't think the sushi bar is open. It would have been a great fit too, because DW isn't wild about sushi. Dinner tonight it as 'Ohana. I'm pretty pumped for the nice short walk!
And dole whips all hours of the day!!
Hmmm...I suppose the Monorail Crawl is out. I can't wait to see pics of your room. I loved the beach pics. That looked so fantastic!
So the sushi bar isn't open on the weekends?

That was one of my only complaints from our trip. We love to keep our house cold at home (I'm talking 65 degrees). I would rather be under a bunch of covers than being the least bit hot. So when I found out our A/C wouldnt go below 68 degrees I was so upset. Then I turned it down, and thought it'll be cooler in here once we get back. Well we walk in the room from a long walk/night at MK and a burst of hot air hit! I was not a happy camper! So yes, I feel your pain!
How was your dinner at O'Hana?? I'm anxious to hear about it!

We had a great time at 'Ohana, although that might have been aided by my two beers !

AND..Tonga Toast. Yum.
Can you put Dole Whips in your refillable mug? I would be dead, dead, dead from pineapple overload if that happened.
Oh Brad,
Still waiting to hear what you thought of your stay at the Poly.

I'm planning on finishing my trip report, or at least moving it forward, this weekend. I got positively slammed by work for the last half of the trip, but I did manage to get lots of pictures, so if I can remember what they're of I should be good to go.
Overall I think the Poly has much of the same appeal as the Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Wilderness Lodge with the perk of being on the Monorail. Another thing I really liked about it was that it felt "classic." You could tell it had been there for quite a while, which I think is also why it has so many cool little secrets and stuff. I'm kind of bummed that we didn't really get to do a hidden Mickey hunt while we were there. Several people recommended it as a hidden Mickey spot. Do you guys take pictures of your Mickeys you've found?
