Honeybunny's awesome belated honeymoon

Well we got back on Saturday and have been catching up with life and work since.

The trip started a little rocky but turned out just awesome. Our plane was stuck in O'Hare Airport for three hours due to bad weather and then refueling from sitting through the weather. No one on the plane was thrilled, including my by then cranky hubby.

We landed three hours late, got on Magical Express, got to the hotel, checked in, and by now had missed our reservation for Yak & Yeti. We stopped by the smoking area (smokers I know, shame on us) and got advised to try to get a late dinner from the restaurant.

So we hopped a bus to AK and literally ran to the restaurant while being rained on. The good news: they had space to let us in right away. This place gets my full recommendation, the staff was friendly, the motif inside was awesome, and the food is super delicious. My fried Mahi Mahi was really tasty and my husband said the flank steak was good. Their mango pie was what really did me in though, so good. If you're paying it was about $100, but since we were dinning plan we weren't really looking at prices.

After dinner we were going to attempt a ride or two, but since there was now a full on thunder storm outside the staff said it was likely that a lot of them would stop running. So it was back on the bus to All-Star Music and some rest.

Here's where I'll say that I actually don't think I'd ever rent a car. The buses were an awesome system; they run regularly and stop closer to the gates than you can park. Also, not navigating the roads is a plus.

As for the All-Star resort, I can't complain. The room was a little small, but since we were never there it didn't really affect anything. There were a lot of kids around but everything was pretty quiet at night. I'd probably go this route again if I wasn't going on a super long trip where I might actually be in the hotel.

More to follow!

Wonderful another trip report coming up yay I muchlove them. Looking forward to hearing all about it. I agree with you about the bus system. Even if I get a rental car, it usually sits in the parking lot and we let Disney do the driving, except for the rare off property excursions.

Awesome trip report so far!! I'm sorry to hear that you were sitting on tarmac in Chicago for so long -- that's the worst. But having a magical meal in WDW must have made up for it a little bit! I love Yak and Yeti, but haven't tried the Mango Pie -- looking forward to it! That place has so many great desserts.

Looking forward to day 2! I hope the rain stops!

Every time I get stuck on the way there I always think:

Why couldn't I have gotten stuck on the way BACK.

Love the first installment! Definitely started out rocky, but I'm glad you got into a Disney park on your first evening to make everything better!

Our second day was my personal favorite because it was our 8 AM to 11 PM day at the Magic Kingdom, my favorite park. Again I have to thank Disneyâs Bus System, we were one of the first fifty people there, which was awesome, got to see the opening musical number. As soon as we were in we went straight over to Tomorrow Land and got on Space Mountain, then over to the Buzz Lightyear Ride. This was pretty much the tone of the whole trip, we hardly had to wait in line for anything, I think we only used the fast pass twice. We rode almost everything, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Small World, Pirates, Haunted Mansionâ¦except Dumbo, no way was I waiting in that line. Getting to ride all of them was awesome, they went from vague memories, to reality.

We had dinner at Cinderellaâs Royal Table, that was simply awesome, great atmosphere, good food, and I got too meet so many Princesses! This is a must do for a princess of any age. Only I was so hot I look awful in every picture. And before dessert I got a huge surprise, my husband ordered a glass slipper delivered on a bed of white carnations. I cried, in front of the waitress and everything.

We spent the rest of the day shopping on main street and then snagging an awesome spot for spectro magic. The parade was impressive, unfortunately it down poured right before wishes so we ended up running for cover and watching the fireworks from a different vantage point. The rain stopped though and the fireworks went off. Perfect end to a perfect day.

I'll have to remember the slipper. Of course I usually don't have to go out of my way to make the wife cry, but it would be fun to do it in a good way for once. How was the food at Cinderella's Royal Table?

Great report so far!

I thought the food was pretty good, I decided to try lamb for the first which I didn't end up liking too much, but the rest was good and chocolate buckle desert was awesome.

No mouse ears for us, we purchased non bride and groom ones for the fun of it but didn't really wear them as I was terrified of losing them at some point and didn't really want to shove them in the bag of holding at each ride.

The glass slipper came from disney floral and gifts, www.disneyflorist.com, they offer timed delivery and 48 satisfaction, although timed delivery is little expensive, they got it awesomely right.

Wednesday ended up being the âquietâ day of our trip. We headed over to Animal Kingdom first thing in the morning and did Expedition Everest, which is probably one the best coasters Iâve ever been on. Seriously love coasters. We did a few other rides, most notably Dinosaur, which we thought was pretty cool. Well I did, something about actually kind of freaked out my husband. I think it was because when we ate in AK Monday night, with the storm he said everything kind of had a Jurassic Park feel to it.
We fast passed the Safari, ate at Tamu Tamu Refreshments, not a bad pita sandwich actually, and realized that the crowds and the heat were getting crazy. We got to catch Festival of the Lion King, but decided we could do without visiting Rafikiâs Planet Watch, at least on this trip and decided to head to DTD.

When we got there we were both starving again so as we walked by Earl of Sandwich, I figured we had to eat there after all I heard about it. It definitely lived up. I carried the left over half of a sandwich with me because I didnât want to throw it out. We spent a nice few hours hitting the shops and relaxing. We were going to go to Epcot for Illuminations, but severe storms were rolling in and we decided just to chill at the hotel. I threw on my swimsuit and though I could hit the pool for little before it stormed and just as me and the husband walked out the door it started. So we watched TV and played in the arcade, and then had a hot dog and went to bed.

There we go! Busy work week and grandpa was in the hospital this weekend sad

Thursday was an awesome day at Epcot, once again at the gates for the opening. Epcot was the park we didnât see as kids, so it was all new to me. By this point I also somehow had caught a cold. Although I thought Iâd kill my husband if referred to the "golf ball" one more time, LOL. We started with a literal race to Soarin", I wasnât aware people literally ran to this ride. Well worth it as we got on in the first group, fast passes were gone by noon, or so I overheard. We hit Mission Space and Test Track (thank goodness for that single rider line), before heading to world showcase. The "intense" version of Mission Space made me a little queasy for a while.

We spent a lot of time in Norway, since my husband's family is mostly of Norwegian descent, he took pictures of everything. We had to ride the Maelstrom too. The bakery's sweet pretzel thing is amazing. We spent the afternoon poking around each country, we ate lunch at Yakatori House. I wasn't a huge fan; my husband thought it was okay though. I had to wait in Morocco for Jasmine and Aladdin, since I didn't have a picture with her yet. The wine shop in France was a life saver, the glass I bought actually relived my sore throat and made me feel less feverish. Since it was storming we hit the Nemo ride and got to see a feeding at the aquarium.

We had dinner at Coral Reef. Let me say that the food was good, I ended up with swordfish, the catch of the day, and my husband had steak, again. Chocolate wave is delicious. The atmosphere was really cool, and they let us in early so we could escape the storm that was still going. I did feel the portions were really small for the price, but since it was dinning plan, I wasn't to concerned. After dinner we went to Hollywood Studios to catch Fantasmic. The rain stopped and we got there early, so we rode Tower of Terror, since it had only like a 20 minute line. It turned out this is one of my favorite rides, I love the theme for the wait line, and the ride itself it awesomely intense. We did the hour and a half wait for the show, and it was absolutely worth it. Fantasmic was just magical, in the list of awesome trip moments it ranks up there. And my awesome husband actually used our tiny digital camera to record the fight with the dragon and the whole ending. This is one of those things that I would tell anyone is a must do. After this we made it back to hotel and surprisingly we actually got in pool! No storms for a few hours, finally.

So glad you loved tower of terror! That's one of my favorite rides!

Also, thanks for the positive review of coral reef. I hear both good and bad about that place. The chocolate wave sounds awesome!

Hope grandpa's ok...

One last chapter. Grandpa is out of the hospital and the out of town relatives came and went. I feel quesy this morning yuck

Friday was the last day of our trip so ended up at Hollywood Studios for the Star Wars Weekend. I loved HS, the old Hollywood themed section was super awesome and I loved the shopping. The weather however, was not so much fun. The humidity was hovering near 100%, making just walking around hard. The storms that were promised never did come through to break it, so it stayed like this the whole day. We started the day on Rockin' Roller Coaster, it was so fast I couldn't stop laughing. We actually had to fast pass this so we shopped in the mean time; I got a lot of gifts for friends and family, and over shopped for myself of course. My husband just slightly regretted showing me the store with comics in it. We waited half an hour to see Jango Fett, met Queen Amidala, rode Star Tours, and watched the Beauty and the Beast Mini-Musical. And of course we had to shop in all the Star Wars shops! The whole day tends to blur and I really think I ended up with heat exhaustion. We ate lunch at the ABC Commissary because as we walked by I felt their ac blowing out at me and decided I was hot and hungry. The place is pretty drab, but because it blends into the surroundings so well, there was hardly anybody in there and it was nice and cool, the food is pretty standard quick service fare.
Towards the end of the day we got in line to meet R2-D2, it was pretty long and then they said he'd only be there like five more minutes and then Luke and Leia were coming out. My husband asked if I wanted to move on since we wouldnât probably make it and then this lady at the front asked if anyone else wanted to come up front. Turns out the line was for the other characters and I totally got to meet R2!

We were suppose to eat at Sci-Fi Dine In but neither of us was really hungry and my husband didnât really want "American" so we cancelled and on the way out went to guest services for a late dinner reservation at Raglan Road. I took a super long nap at the hotel and then we headed to dinner. Raglan Road is definitely a place I want to make it back to, awesome music, their own Irish Dancer, a great atmosphere, and the food was amazing. The best part was the bread pudding, I loves me some bread pudding and this was one of the best I've had. After dinner and a couple drinks we went back to the hotel and relaxed before heading to bed.

The next morning nothing went right. We needed to buy and extra carry on for all the stuff we bought-oops! We missed the service that takes your bags for you. And while we were on the Magical Express I got a call that my dogs escaped the yard and my brother got a dog at large ticket! Which I found out though could have been worse, the cops in my city usually just shoot on sight when it involves pit bulls, but I guess my dogs were being friendly enough they didn't. We got back safe though, and it took another two weeks for Wisconsin to get warm.
