How do I say Thank You?!?!

I haven't been here that long, but I already love this site (thanks, Mark!) and the people who post here. My husband says (when I read posts to him) that this is because many are "experienced/older" and know how to look at things with humor.

I was just surfing on some of the "other sites" and I see rumors/conjecture that aren't really based on any facts and sometimes contain some pretty snarly responses. Yes, I have recognized some of you and your pics on those sites too (I am the same there too) and thankfully you are not part of the snarly group.

That is why I love this site. We laugh and are silly (even at our various ages, it is acceptable). But most importantly it's personal reflections we share, our love for all things Disney and Mark pops in, or recent travelers, with new information that helps.
Thanks for making the day a bit brighter and reminding me why I look here every morning.

It's a Sunday and we are off to church.....it seemed appropriate!

Thank you!
I did this once on another site and was sent a private message on how to do it correctly. This is what I mean about the people on this site! muchlove

This forum can easily become a supportive family if you allow it to. All loving Uncle Walts idea.

I agree! I LOVE this site and the people muchlove
This was the first ( and only) forum I joined so I've never had to deal with the snarky/rude people. I don't understand why people have to be like that. Haven't these so called Disney fans ever seen Bambi? " if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."

Nice post oldtink, thanks for sharing. Its the personalities and the respect of the members that make this website what it is really. Dont get me wrong, the staff does one heck of a job keeping it going in the background, and without Kristen's writings and articles, we'd be in a world of trouble!

Regarding the "other" sites, they are what they are. That is also why when anyone decides to join here that was on another forum and left for one reason or another, we don't want the "trash" talk about it brought over here, you leave it all behind.

It has been said before and I will say it again, one of the nicest his about this forum is, no one cares about post counts, we don't give likes or stars or ribbons. We are here to try and help adults, with or without kids, have the most enjoyable & magical time they possibly can at what ever Disney Park or Resort they are going to around the world, but many Walt Disney World.

It is nice when people do a little searching on here before posting a new thread so things don't start getting repetitive, but it happens at times. We may let it go and we may delete it. Who knows.

We do try and keep a tight rein on the advertising and the spammers. We have no tolerance for them.

We share our thoughts & our opinions, our likes & dislikes, and at that end of the day, we hope we all sign off happy and got our Disney fix for the day!

Have a Magical day!

Oldtink this is the only Disney site I have participated on. When I read about the experiences others have had on the other sites I cringe. I think what makes this site the best is because we live up to the name WDW for GROWNUPS!

Well said everyone. I think for me why I prefer talking all things Disney here as opposed to other places is because for starters, numbers wise, it's much smaller compared to the other sites out there. From what I've experienced, the smaller the users on a forum, the more cohesion there is on the forums. In terms of Disney World forums, well, this is the second one I joined after I "defected" so to speak from the first site I once called sanctuary. I enjoyed it at first but six months later, I was distraught. The same threads were being debated and chest-pounded time and time again. Things got personal when it didn't need to be and we're talking about grown adults who behaved like children. Civility went out the door and I was just downright uncomfortable. I still post on the first forum, but mostly in the non-Disney related discussion topics and every once in a while, pop into the general discussion and forum games but that's it. Chest-pounding, arrogance and pride are negative traits I feel a great deal of Internet users have and that does not apply to just Disney World forums.

Anyway, lo and behold, I recognized a few other users who migrated from the old site to this forum and I figured to join. Boy was I grateful this place was not infested with Disney vs Universal debates, outrageous rumors and unwanted drama! And more importantly, Disney dominated the discussion, something I prefer much more here than on the other site.

But overall, mrhub made a great point on how a site or forum is really made by the people who use it. So far, I think we're fortunate we haven't really had any bad apples so to speak. I think everyone seems to understand each other and is more tolerable of other's opinions. Not only that, I'm a little late in noticing this but I think we are able to lighten up and provide more good-nature humor in our posts compared to other sites. Plus I think moderation is not too lenient, not too oppressive and the mods are unselfish, which are positive traits in my view. Anyway, it's a great site and now, I think this forum really is sanctuary for me and my Disney World fandom.

I've noticed a couple threads here and there about people coming here from other forums that were "not so nice" I don't understand that. Yes, we all have our opinions, likes, dislikes and all that jazz but to lower yourself to that kind of behavior is just downright childish. Glad this is the first site I found! clapping

Well said everyone! This was the first forum I ever joined and I'm glad I lucked into chatting with this fine group of people first. Thanks, Tink for giving us the opportunity to express our appreciation for each other. I do read & post elsewhere from time to time, but I'm happy to call WDWFG my Disney "home"...you know, outside of Saratoga Springs wink
